Returning Corel User with Questions

Post by RDouglass1 »

Firstly, I bought the Corel X5 version recently, and I noticed there was only one option for English, (British, not US) during the Install Process. I am Across the Pond in the US, not England. I think Corel should offer a Multiple English Option in the Install Process.

When I opened Quatro-Pro, and copied some information from my Bank web site, the Dates were shown as a Calculation, and not a date. After I selected the collumn to format it, the date Choices were very limited, and looked to me to be only European in appearance. I submitted the following to Corel CS, and thus far have not had a reasonable answer from them.
Previously Sent:
Under your "Numeric Format" tab, the selection of "DATE", brings up a list of possible Date setting choices.
These are:

DD-MMM-YY
DD-MMM-YYYY
DD-MMM
MMM-YY
MMM-YYYY
Long Date Intl
Short Date Intl

None of these choices converts the date numbers of: +03-02-2011 into the US style of date: 03-02-2011. Instead, your formats Convert the date into a Numerical Calculation. I am not aware of any US conversions of dates that show the Date prior to the Month. I am used to Dates being shown as: MM (Numbers)-DD-YY, or MM (Numbers again)-DD-YYYY, or MMM (Letters)-DD-YY, or MMM (Letters again)-DD-YYYY.

I do not see any of your Date Choices that offer Month-Day-Year. Could you Please make a change that offers an AMERICAN Style of Date Text in your Spread Sheets?????

The Normal US Date Format should be: MM-DD-YY, or MM-DD-YYYY. It should already have been included in Corel's Formatting Choices.
End of Submission:

My Question: I am wondering if there is a patch or Simple Format option that can change the Date Format Options in Quatro-Pro that would more acurately match the US style of Date Format?

My second question is related to a Corel Add On, WP-Lightning. When I activate the program, I get two screens open. One is a White Page with a Directory and File Name Tree on it, and the other is a Long Narrow Bar with Quick Launch?? Icons on it.
These are: View a Document; Make a Note; My Last Document; My Last Note; and Take a Snap Shot.

during a recent phone conversation with a Corel Agent, I was told that clicking "Make a Note" should open a Word Processor Screen into which I could begin Typing a Note. I do not get that Word Processor option unless I right click and select Send to Word Perfect.

How can I get the Lightning to Open a Word Processor when starting a New Note?? Am I doing something wrong? or does my SW have a serious problem??

You say "Corel X5", but you don't specify what product. CorelDraw Suite, WordPerfect Office, and Designer Technical Suite are all "X5". Nevertheless, this is a forum for Corel's media products - i.e. video editing and the like.

AND - - you seem to have made the mistake of thinking you are talking to Corel on these forums - please note the title = User To User - it is not 'OUR' anything - we'll do what we can to help but we are just users - this is not an official Corel communication port.

As I said, this forum is for Corel's digital media products, so I don't know how much help you will get. Have you tried searching for a WP forum?

I can understand that, so I am back to the start with no resolution.

I did not come to this forum because I had no other place to go. I did contact Corel CS to ask my questions, through their support link on the web site, and they then suggested that I call and speak to an agent at a number they sent me. The agent seemed peeved that I was told to call, he helped me very little, and then suggested I get on this forum to get further help.

I get the impression that Corel does not want to help customers unless they are using the PAID call per incident fee based system.

The fact that some of the SW I have from them doesn't work, at better than $300 doesn't make any diffenence.

I was told I could find help with the WP-Lightning Program, and get help with questions regarding the Quatro-Pro issue.

I don't know why they would tell you to come here when they have their own Officecommunity.com.

Hello RDouglass1,

If you will post your concern at Officecommunity.com, you may want to also tell them where you got your software, if it was from a retail store or a download. If you purchased if from corel.com, did you bought it from the North America region or UK.

Thanks to you, and Black Lab, for the info and Office Link. I started at that site, and just clicked on the link FORUM, and landed here. I will back Page and see if I can get re-directed the correct way. Thanks for the assist.
