DEP prevents execution of vstudio.exe

Post by jesus_songel »

Hi there,
My name is Jesus. I have just bought a NOT device to capture and edit video. It came with VIDEO EDITOR USB DELUXE. But at the end
software is ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO SE DVD. I have not been able to start it. I get always error DEP Data Execution Prevention. I have read some posts regarding DEP problems and tryed everyting.
My last setting for DEP is:
Activate all programs except:
vstudio.exe
uvPL.exe
uvdetecthw.exe
BurnIxa.exe
BatchDL.exe
APLoading.exe

I have also tryed to execute: bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff as administrator, but windows does not allow me: "Access denied to BCD".

I am frustrated. It is not the first time I have problems with DEP on other video software.
Could anyone help me.
I have an ACER travelmate 5720 laptop with Windows vista home premium.

Thank you

Welcome to the forums, :)

What version of VS are you using? Is it VS 10? What capture device did it come with, EasyCap ?

You do understand the function of DEP? It is to protect your system from programs that try to use protected areas of System Memory. This is memory that is allocated for your operating system, and various system functions. Programs are not suppose to use those parts of the memory. If you're having problems with other programs, I would first look at the source of those programs. Are they freeware, where you obtained them. There could be a malware issue, where these programs have malicious code written into them, and they're basically attacking your system. Have you recently ran a virus scan, and did it reveal any possible viruses?

Next I would look at the possibility that one of your memory cards is failing. Bad memory areas, could cause a program to try and write to other areas, one being the system areas.

Hello jesus_songel,

If your VideoStudio is ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO SE DVD, you are most likely Videostudio 10 SE which is not compatible with Windows Vista and the cause of the problem.
