1st post. Trying out VS trial. The desktop display only allows full screen which gives me no access to anything else or minimized. What's up with that? I have a big monitor and certainly don't need all of it for one program. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Dave
Welcome to the forums
Unfortunately that’s the way of the beast, all versions of Video Studio has always taken full command of the desktop, all or nothing.
You should be able to see the tool bar to the bottom of the desktop allowing you to choose other programs/windows/folders.
So you can access your image/video folders allowing you to drag and drop into VS, but no way to “restore down” the VS program.

Dumb move on their part. Nope, no access to my win bar either (set to auto-hide).
Just getting into video making and I was kind of hoping this would follow my other Corel programs in style and use.
I tend to put up with a a lot of programs's idiosyncrasies but can't believe how annoying I find this full screen deal.
The dark on dark layout style is also kind of tough to deal with.
oh well. Will work with it awhile longer before deciding.
Thanks

Can you not use Alt+Tab - - - or just take your tool bar off of Auto-hide.

Re: VS X4 trial desktop display size
Just as Ulead and now Corel have consistently refused to change their all-or-nothing approach, I have, for even longer than I have been using their products, also chosen Auto-hide for my bottom task bar in Windows, and I refuse to change that. But at the same time, I only find the VS approach a very minor inconvenience which I have long since gotten used to -- especially since recent versions have at least allowed you to minimise the VS window, or else you can use one of alternate ways Windows provides to flip through other open programs or the desktop...

I also have my task bar set to auto hide. If I want to do something else while VS is open I simply use the Windows button to bring up the start menu, or if I already have something open I simply use Alt+Tab, as Brian has suggested. Not a big deal.
