First of all I want to congratulate Corel with the New X4, thanks for bringing back the old style that worked so good in previous versions.
I experience problems when dragging images/video from Explorer to the timelime. This is the only method I used in the past but every second clip that I drag doesn't work. The timeline tracklines become a solid black pane and the arrow(cursor) change into a no entrance sign (the same sign that you get when dragging eg. an audio file into a wrong track.) See attached snippet from my changed screen.
I've tried everything but it takes several retries and then all of the sudden imports the clip to the timeline. In previous versions I had the same problem when dragging a transition from the library except that the timeline did not change its appearance.
Hope someone has a solution to this problem it is quite disturbing.
Regards
Luna

Re: Problems when inserting from Explorer
Are you trying to do this by using the Import Media Files icon, the folder in the Library? If so that is meant for the Library not the timeline. Try using the Browse button. You may get the Do not Enter icon, if you try dropping the clip ontop of another one. You need to first make sure the cursor/playhead is positioned at the end of a previous clip.

Re: Problems when inserting from Explorer
I do this all the time and it works fine, but not in a standard Windows way. While the cursor gives no indication that it is OK to drop the selected files on the time line, it is in fact OK and if you are patient, the selected files are inserted in the time line. This is the way it worked for me with all the previous versions of VS that I have owned and it continues to work the same way... Al

Hi Luna
I am sure you are aware of the different ways in inserting a clip to the timeline
1 / Drag and Drop from Windows Explorer
2 / Right click timeline and select Insert Video/Photo
Either way is ok, for both options you have to browse windows explorer to find the files, so time-wise it is the same.
However I realise that you could have the folder already open and sat on the desktop tool bar.
I think Al may be correct when he says you need a little patience when dropping the files, try pausing a little longer before dropping.
