Unfortunately, what I've been doing is creating the font effect in a different program, then copying/pasting it into Photo Impact as a .bmp file -- this is taking FOREVER and prevents me from changing the size, etc. What a nightmare!
If anybody can figure out how to get PI to create this EXACT type effect, PLEASE PLEASE let me know.
Note: Be warned. I'm an idiot so please be as specific as possible so I can re-trace your exact steps in creating the effect.
Create your Image, do a Fill with the color you prefer. With the Text tool, type in the type of text, adjust the size, position, and lock into place. In the Easy Palette go to the Type Gallery, Gradient-Light and apply the effect to your Text in your image.
You can change the color of the Text with the Hue& Saturation, colorize feature or the master. You can make many more adjustments from the Command Menu Items if you desire.
You can create a texture fill over the Text and do a fade to create more reflections. Your possibilities are unlimited. Sorry, not enough time to do your work for you, but there you have it.
PS: I should mention that when when you create an effect in another graphic program and then expect a different GA prog to duplicate the same, chances are it won’t. That is the reason for different GA progs, they all try to be a little different in the hopes you will purchase them instead of the competitor.
To help you a little further, here is what I do when I must work in two or more GA progs at the same time. Using Photoshop and PhotoImpact as examples, remember they do not have similar File format properties. As PI can not open Photoshop except as a single layer image, and Photoshop can not open PI at all.
Before I create anything, I determine how large my image in pixels will be, say a 320 x 120 pixel banner, creating a dummy banner to make a comparison. The Type I will use will be approx 280 x 100 pixels in size. The point I an trying to establish, make sure I do not have to do a lot of resizing between applications.
I create a Type Object, then apply all of the Effects and make all of the adjustments necessary. I then highlight my Type Object and then go to the Command Menu and do a Copy to the Clipboard. I then create an image container to receive the Text Object in PI, and then paste the contents of the Clipboard into the container Image. This now allows me to resize or change attributes if necessary. I can then do a copy and paste back into PS with little difficulty.
The Golden Rule, while working on several applications at a time, is not to Save your file between Applications, because once merged with the Background you will have to use the Lasso tool to extract the object from the Saved Background, creating unnecessary work for you.
Okay, I should have said that PI opens a PSD as a Flattened Image or single layer as default, unless you change the PSD File Option, located in Preferences, to open in Multiple layers.
