Capture from Camera

Post by wkadams »

I am using X2. I have been capturing video from my camera with no problems. Today, I set it up again and now can't capture. When I press capture video, it runs for 10 seconds and then give a message that capture failed, file is corrupted and unusable and of course stop capturing. I can't figure out anything that I am doing different than before when I captured successfully. I have restarted my camera, my computer, and video studio all with the same results. During the 10 seconds, I am getting video to my computer. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Unfortunately, all we know is that you can't capture from your camera with X2 and that you used to be able to to. But we don't know exactly how you were capturing, or even whether the camera is a video camera or a still camera which can shoot video. What brand and model camera is it? Does it use mini DV tape, a hard drive, an SD drive, or a mini DVD? Does it connect to your computer via Firewire or USB? What format are you trying to get X2 to capture in? How long is it since you last captured successfully with it? Has anything changed on your computer since then -- e.g. have you changed operating systems?

I ask all this so that we can begin to get a handle on it. At a wild guess, it sounds like a problem a number of us here have had in trying to capture analogue video as digital DV/AVI but using firewire, either through a firewire capturing device, a mini DV camcorder being used as a passthrough device or else a Sony Digital 8 camcorder being used either as a passthrough device or else actually playing an analogue 8mm or Hi8 tape. In those cases, we would usually get about 8 seconds of capture and then the corrupted video message.

But get back to us with the requested information and hopefully someone will be able to help.
