rseymour wrote:Hi,

I am trying to install VideoStudio Pro X4, which I've just downloaded.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit. In the course of the installation, I get Error message 1935: Error 1935 with the following text: microsoft.vc80.atl,type="win32",version="8.50727.42",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"

At this point, the installer is trying to download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package. But the problem is that Windows 7 does not allow me to install this: it isn't compatible with the system. Every time I try to install the package independently of the installer, I get a similar error message. When I go to properties in the install file, it does not include Windows 7 compatibility. So, the problem appears to be that the software needs a Microsoft package that doesn't run on Windows 7, and thus - bizarrely - may not be suitable for this operating system.

I'd appreciate any advice on this.

Hi there.. from what i see your problem is, you have to change your OS to windows 7 profesional or Ultimate..
Windows 7 home premium does'nt support the (Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package)..
I have no problem installing VS X4 into my windows 7 profesional machine..
sorry for my bad english..

I'm sharing rseymour's problem regarding the ability (or lack thereof) of VSP X4 to install.
My hard disk experienced corrupted attributes when I ran chkdsk. One area that's been damaged is my VSP's installation folder. To fix this, I performed an upgrade install (aka repair install) of my Win 7 Pro 64 bit machine.
But since I knew that VSP's installation might be missing a file or two due to the corruption, I decided to reinstall it. Tough luck, because every uninstaller I used told me that "only installed program can be removed".
Since I was not permitted to uninstall VSP properly, I deleted every file, folder and registry keys that's connected to it.
When it's time to reinstall VSP, a message popped up saying that it can't find a specific file.

I hope Corel would listen to this simple suggestion: INCLUDE A "REPAIR" OPTION TO YOUR SETUP.EXE FILE.
IT SAVES TIME FROM REINSTALLING AND MIGHT HAVE SAVED USERS FROM THE INABILITY TO INSTALL/UNINSTALL/REINSTALL DUE TO MISSING FILES OR WHATEVER.

my Vista setup.exe is also corrupted or missing...so I can not re-install VSP X4. I tried a competitor's trial video editor which had its own install file, so I tried it and that competitors version installed fine.
I hope Corel follows that path and has it's own setup.exe file like the competition, so that we do not have to rely on our operating system corrupted or missing setup.exe file. I miss VSP X4

I seem to have solved my problem regarding this, which I declare is pure luck.
What I did was I uninstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022,
downloaded a fresh copy of that version from Microsoft.
Then I installed my old VSP X3 and uninstalled itt afterwards.
When I ran VSP X4 installer, it worked properly again.
I also deleted "Ulead System" folder from Program Files (x86)/Common.
So I don't know which of these steps fixed it, but I'm glad I'm through it already.

I was getting an error 1935 while installing x4 on my new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. After a lot of searching on here for fixes I was able to install x4 after going to microsoft and downloading Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package from there:

Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem running Windows 7 Home Premium
