Anyone know if the new version of vs has slowmotion (like twixtor) or similar other than just the usual "slow it down" option...

X4 does slow motion like it always has. Maybe you can explain how twixtor does it?

as far as I can tell it "adds scenes" between the existing frames...Black Lab wrote:X4 does slow motion like it always has. Maybe you can explain how twixtor does it?
google says
"Twixtor synthesizes unique new frames by warping and interpolating frames of the original sequence... employing RE:Vision's proprietary tracking technology that calculates motion for each individual pixel."
youtube has some pretty impressive results taken with 550d..worth checking out.

Re: vs 4 with slow motion...
Hello Alex,
Like what blacklab said, VS X4 and other version of VideoStudio has a built-in slow motion feature. If you want to test out how the slow motion looks like using VS X4, I recommend that you download the trial and see for yourself. You can download the trial at http://www.corel.com/trials.
And below are the steps on how to adjust the speed of your video or the slow motion.
To adjust the speed and time-lapse attributes of your video clip
1. Click Speed/Time-lapse in the Options Panel of the Edit Step.
2. In New clip duration, specify a set duration for your video clip.
If you want to maintain the original duration of your clip, do not change the original value.
3. In Frame Frequency, specify the number of frames to be removed at regular intervals during video playback.
A higher value entered in Frame Frequency will produce a more noticeable time-lapse effect on your video. Otherwise, maintain the value at 0 to retain all frames in your video clip.
4. Drag the Speed slider according to your preferences (i.e., slow, normal or fast), or enter a value.
The higher the value you set, the faster the playback of your clip. (Values range from 10-1000%).
5. Click Preview to view the results of your settings.
6. Click OK.

Not sure I understand what you are saying Abiel - surely removing frames will speed up the video - and raising the speed value above 100 will also speed the video - alexleominster asked about slow motion which means adding frames doesn't it ??

Re: vs 4 with slow motion...
I think Abiel could be confusing Time Lapse -- a new feature with X4 -- and slow motion. In effect, Time Lapse speeds up an otherwise slow process (or indeed, speeds up any process!) In the context of this question, I have already been looking at whether you could use Time Lapse in the negative sense of slowing things down. You can in effect double the duration, or treble it or otherwise increase the duration of your clip to whatever factor you want, and this will slow things down on playback. But there does not appear to be any way of varying the speed across a single clip -- i.e. no key framing is available.
