I was wondering if it is possible to make a home dvd that has selectable audio's.
This is what I would like to do, I want to make a home video with some background music but I also want to be able to watch the movie with no background music so I can hear what people are saying on the Video but then be able to slect the audio track with the background misic when I want the music to be heard.
If this is not possible in VS9 what program would I need to be able to do this.
Are dual audio's on a DVD that are selectable possible

Hi 737mechanic
Strictly speaking what you want to do requires dedicated DVD authoring applications that support selectable multiple audio tracks. Btw, Ulead DVD Workshop 2 could be a candidate.
But here's a work-around which goes down well with practically any video editing apps.
Pan Left: Movie & Background Music; Pan Right: Movie Only -
Here's what you do to prepare an audio track that emulates the effect you want ... thru the use of easily available audio editors, first record the movie's original sound tracks in stereo (original L & R channels), then record another music track (your background music) hard-panned Left (or Right). Then using the music editor merge the two; worst case if you don't have software, play the two together on your PC to record a new merged track.
Viola ... if you want to movie w/bg music, select Left channel audio during your DVD playback; and for movie sound only, select the other channel.
It's not HiFi, because it's effectively mono.
Yes, also make sure you've got both the L+R channels of your BG music into mono and not just the Left channel when you hard-pan it.
Hope this helps ... but if you have extra cash, go get the DVD authoring stuff.
Cheers

Yeah, the standard version of DVD Workshop allows up to 8 different soundtracks. DVD Workshop Express (which I have) allows 2 soundtracks. I've Made DVD copies of some VHS movies/concerts and used Workshop Express to include both censored and uncensored sountracks. You can specify a default audio track, and you can select one from a menu or from the audio buttton on your remote.
Note that unlike the left/right solution, you CANNOT MIX the soundtracks during playback.
Assuming that you own a copy of Video Studio, you can get the special upgrade version of DVD Workshop Express for $150. DVD Workshop is only an upgrade from Video Studio's DVD authoring features... It is not a video editor.
