Printer Profiles
How do I set a printer profile for printing? On the file menu I have been to the Color Management section but in the printer profiles box it just says none. Is this a bug?

Re: Printer Profiles
I don't think it's a bug. But you'd have to ask someone who uses Color Management more than I do. Though one guy on the forums was slightly impressed by it so it must work to some degree. Working off the assumption that it's not a bug here is what I can tell you.
Corel doesn't supply these printer profiles as far as I'm aware. And the help files state that "Only valid and correctly installed profiles appear in the profile lists."
So if your printer software did not automatically install a color profile you either need to get it from the manufacturer or, as suggested by an older help file, use a third party software to create a profile for your printer. I don't know of any such software I was just reading from a help file that doesn't offer any more than I have.

Re: Printer Profiles
Yes I do have profiles for my printer generated with some X-Rite software. They are installed in the correct folder but PaintShop doesn't seem to be picking them up.

Re: Printer Profiles
What folder? I only see folders for Monitor and CMYK profiles not for printer profiles. Obviously I could be wrong here but it's my understanding that you have to actually install the profile and associate the profile with a specific device. If you right-click on the profiles the context menu should have the option to install the profile in Windows.
Looking in the knowledgebase for Corel they say this

If that doesn't work, you'll have to set the profile association in the Color Management for the Printer manually. I did this and the profile appeared inside the drop down box just fine. The manufacturer of the paper will have to provide a specific color profile (as an ICC file) for YOUR printer. They may have also provided instructions on how to install it.
One can install the ICC profile by right clicking on the file, and selecting "Associate..."
This will bring up a window, with an"Associate Device" tab being open. If your printer is not listed in the "Associated Devices", the profile will not show up in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 for this printer because Windows does not associate it with this printer.
One should click on the "Add..." button at the bottom, and choose the printer it is meant for. Hit "Apply" to save the changes and then restart Paint Shop Pro Photo

Re: Printer Profiles
I'm using Win XP. The saved X-Rite profile (I use the ColorMunki Photo) must be placed into the correct folder. For XP it is:
C:\WIN30A\SYSTEM32\spool\drivers\color (your drive and windows name may be different.) Browse to that folder with Explorer and right click on that file and click on Install. Then go into the Color Management tab in control panel and associate it with the correct printer device.
I and some other users have found problems with the default ColorMunki Photo v4 icc version preference by default with X3 in soft proof/match mode with empty pallets and histograms. I changed my printer profile preference in CMP to V2 and it works well.
If you are an XP user you might find this color management applet (has some extra features) for the control panel more intuitive;
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... 8d429fbb9e
One thing to note about PSPPX3 is that the profile setting in it is only for soft proofing. Unlike Photoshop or some other editors it will not apply the profile during the printing process. I do not have a good printer driver that lets me choose the profile. I use QImage Pro from ddisoftware.com (the Pro option allows soft proofing in that application as well). Although not a current product you can still purchase it and it has been updated to include the various 32 and 64 bit Win versions through Win 7. Once you get your preferences straight in it you are good to go. Full color adjustment and other features are in the much expanded Ultimate version but I find the reduced cost Pro version meets my needs between using my Canon supplied RAW editor, X3, and QImage Pro 9 which nicely enhances sharpening via resampling and other techniques to adjust print size at printing time.

Re: Printer Profiles
X3 will need the profie loaded in the X3 color profile folder. install folder/PSp clasis/color profile.
Also to use a profile for the printer the driver first must allow such a function and you would access thorugh the printer properties button in the print dialog. The profile may have to be loaded in the windows color folder. c:/windows/ system XX/spool/color

Re: Printer Profiles
Hello, David:
The X3 Classic Profile folder I have has just a few for color space. It may be the default location. I have had no problem loading profiles from the standard Win location. I created all of the profiles I use with calibration equipment for the monitor and printer.
The other profile folder one folder up above the Classic folder contains Multimedia .ipf profiles.
