On the (unlucky) move to VX4

Post by msp7fan »

Hello to all,

I'm new to that platform, but very familar with with a lot of MSP versions from 2 to 7 since 1996 and DVD Movie Factories from 2, 3 up to 6 - which done a very fine job for me and i could get some money with films and DVDs processed with above products over the years.

I upgraded my hardware different times to just now Quad processors.

I never will understand, that the real fine MSP must die for the much poorer and basic VideoStudio (i had tested the products of all the others periodically, but MSP seems the best solution for my needs).

At least VS X4 (and earlier versions) are/is a bad combination of VideoStudio and DVD Movie Factory - bad designed on the dark style known from Adobes products.
Why the user cannot start the DMF component as a standalone application alike DMF6 or DMF7, where i only started the DVD-component without the terrible launcher?

That for my long background on such products.

All worked fine for me until i switched over to digital TV-SAT equipment, where neither MSP nor DMF can handle *.ts (transport stream) files in the different resolution from 576i, 576p and obove.

Naturly i can convert them to *.PS streams with VLC and/or reduce the bitrate in addition, that it works afterwards with MSP and DMF. But that takes additional time and space and the conversion function don't look for additional language streams.

Another free product called "MaxRecode" can handle such language streams very well, but will produce a "ready" mpeg file, what DMF will calculate again completely - independend of identical parameters. :x
In addition the free products supports the addional cores. Why don't DMF6 and/or VS X4?

So i ended (not really lucky) actual with VSX4 - which does the job byself (but i don't tested videos with mor languages in the stream) with its terrible and dark user interface - where i only had a need for something alike a standalone DMF 8 without all the crop around.

@For the Corel representatives here:
1. Support for "better" processors Dual Core and Quads) seems to be very poor.
"Free" products show, how it can work :D
2. That dark design of the user interface is real terrible. On the first view it looks chic, but to work with is for me a horror.
Functionality and bugfree is mor important than a "nice design".
3. Give us the DMF component to start as a standalone.

BTW - i'm writing from germany. Therefor i beg your pardon for my terrible english.

regards Martin

Hello msp7fan,

1. Support for "better" processors Dual Core and Quads) seems to be very poor.
"Free" products show, how it can work :D
VS X4 was designed to provide support for new high-performance hardware, including 2nd generation Intel® Core™ and AMD processors, and multi-core and GPU optimization such as Nvidia CUDA. If you are using multi-core PC, I suggest that you download the trial via www.corel.com/trials.

2. That dark design of the user interface is real terrible. On the first view it looks chic, but to work with is for me a horror.
Functionality and bugfree is mor important than a "nice design".
At this time there is no setting to disable the dark theme of VS X4. This has been reported already.

3. Give us the DMF component to start as a standalone.
DMF 7 Pro is available for you to try via www.corel.com/trials
I hope I answered all your questions.

Thanks for answering

Since registering the product it seems to run better on the quad ;-)

BTW - how i can get german menu content below the german main menu points?
Is there something I can do within the registry to get complet german menues?

In addition i want to use mpeg-2 sound in different cases - but this is not selectable.
Is there somewhere in the *.ini-files something to change?

I'm shure, you will have the right hints for me to fix such problems without de-/reinstalling.

P.s. I just de-/reinstalled VS X4, but the menu content is in english again

Abiel Corel NA,

thanks for the link to the DMF7 Pro.

I just restore my partition to get back my old standard without corel products to start fresh again.

1. DMF7 Pro has some bugs
1.1 Loading of my *.ts files is a pain and takes very long (in VS X4 it takes only 1 second).

1.2 Afterwards i can edit the files as desired, but as i have seen in DMF6 and in VS X4 also there is something broken with the fade-in functions.
I normally start films with fade in of video and sound.

If i put in a sound fade in only, all is fine.
But if i put a crossfade onto the start, the volume raises up to high and falls down, when the fade-in ends. Very unprofessional.
(BTW: The automatic sound fades on crossover are disabled)

Questions:
1. Is both of the above fixed with the patches for DMF7 Pro?
2. Why there is no german version?
3. When that fade-in problem will be fixed in VS X4?

Thanks for your answer in advance

Some additions:
I have compared with a tool all files in the Corel and Ulead directories (all Users\Appliacations and program files) regarding VS X4 with an VS X4 installation on another PC and modified different files without some success - but the main menues are german, the rest is englisch again.

In the registry the language seems to be correct with "DE", "Deutsch" and "49".
Where the hell the program finds a difference?

Please see such screen shots:

Damned - where are the pictures?

Now it is enough!

I reinstalled VS X4 completely, deleted all Corel directories, cleaned up the registry manual as desribed here:
http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/d ... _id/764392

and used additional the recommanded Corel tool "CDS 2010 Clean-Up ver1.9.exe " "for VS Pro" and reinstalled after a reboot completely new.

result:
Again i have mixed german/english menues. Main menu points are german, the rest is english.

Abiel, why?

I have a lot of Ulead software installed, starting with Ulead "Filmbrennerei3 (DVD Moviefactory 3), DVD Movie Factory 6, Ulead Cool3D, partial Ulead MSP 6.5, Ulead MSP7.3 - but all works completely in german as well as all other software packages!

Where VS X4 finds, that all the sub menues must be in english while the main selections are in german?

Hi msp7fan,

I'm not from Corel but just trying to help.

Have you checked to make sure that the VX4 version you installed is the German one?

You could try raising a customer service ticket with Corel to ask if they can make sure a German menu fix is available ASAP. Ask for a German Menu patch.

I'm sure Abiel could help with that...?!

Thanks for your note.

That DVD is multilingual, the printed manual is in german and the both installations are made from the same DVD with selection of "Deutschland" and "PAL/SECAM" to decide on which machine VS X4 will run better.

I tried to trigger Abiel with a PM to have a look to my problem here - bit without response.
Are there known such language installation problems with Corel?

P.s. Just now I found some hussels with the newest ATI Radeon graphic drivers (11.2.566) and DMF6 and VSX4 also.
