Trial version stutter
Using the trial version of X4, I exported (share) a test project to file. On playback some parts stutter severely. Is this done on purpose by Corel, this being a trial version ? Like other manufacturers would use a watermark ?

Re: Trial version stutter
Welcome to the forums.
But no, that is definitely not an aspect of the trial version. It is a fully functioning version which is only missing some templates and samples to cut down on the download size, and of course it only remains active for 30 days.
Unfortunately, you have not given us much to go on by way of information, so it is difficult to give any sensible answer. We don't know what format your video has, where it came from, what editing you did to it or what format you chose at the Share step. To give us the properties of the original clips, right click on one in the VS timeline or library window, and copy ALL its Properties here please. When you get back to us with these various pieces of information, I am sure someone should be able to help...

Re: Trial version stutter
What do you know ! I just re-exported the same project with the same settings. The stuttering is gone during playback. What caused the stuttering initially will remain a mystery.
Just for the record - the footage were AVCHD .m2ts files. Export settings were AVCHD as MPEG 1920 x 1080, 25fps. (the default AVCHD settings).
On a different note. Previously I tried the trial version of X3. X3 was a complete failure. Now X4 has set it straight. X4 is super-stable, output rendering is faster that real time, it has a really great interface and ease-of-use a huge plus.
Well done Corel, now you've got your stripes back !

Video Studio uses Smart Proxy when editing HD files, without this the playback can be poor.
The proxy files do take some time to create, until then playback would not improve.
Go to Settings – Proxy Manager / Queue Manager to view files.
A small icon is placed on the clip/thumbnails when proxy files have been created.

Re: Trial version stutter
Hi Trevor,
The stuttering occured during playback of the final, completed exported product, not the preview file. Playback was from the c: drive using Windows Media Player. I shall create a few more exports of other projects to see if the problem will repeat itself.

Re: Trial version stutter
Do you have another media player? I've gotten almost completely away from using WMP. I use either VLC Player or Media Player Classic Home Cinema. Just from personal experience I've had video clips that didn't play correctly or at all in WMP, and would play in the other two.

Re: Trial version stutter
Hi, I have just come searching for this same problem.
I am using VS pro 3. I have it running on three different machines
the one in my details, a dell vostro 220 desktop duo core processor 2 gb ram that had Vista on it, I have since upgraded it to windows 7 and an old (7yrs old) dell notebook with XP which I have been using ulead video 11+ on without these problems.
I have vs pro 3 set up on all of these machines. I have found the stutter in videos I have down loaded off DVDs, Videos I have rendered under 11+ previously and audio I have recorded directly into Pro 3.
This is a stutter in audio only the video is perfect.
I first thought it might be a compatibility problem with 11+ vsp files but soon found that even pro 3 vsp files had the same problem.
I have found that if I bring a video into the player ie up the top of the screen pro 3 - it plays perfectly.
If I then pull the video onto the time line it develops a stutter.
If I render the file then the stutter vanishes.
If I now take the new video and import it into a new VSP files and add a couple of other videos and then render the file to produce one video the stutter comes back.
It is there when playing in pro3 or in WMP.
I will try one of the other media players you have suggested.
It does not matter which operating system I use (this is why I upgraded from Vista to windows 7 home). It does not matter if I use the old dell notebook or the 3 week old quad processor dell notebook, they all have the stutter on the timeline and in multi rendered video files.
I thought it was the copy from my dvd and therefore a brought the files in using three different systems but the problem still keeps coming back.
Can you help? it is very frustrating.

Hi training1
Are you saying that the original clips from DVD show playback problems.
Can you read Rons last reply regarding other media players.

Re: Trial version stutter
I have found an answer to the problem.
On the forum I found someone else that had a sound problem.
They contacted corel and were given a patch.
Corel have not made this patch avaliable.
The person provided a link to the patch on their website.
It immediately removed the sound problem - as long as I re rendeered the videos of course.
I no longer have the time line sound problems either.
Sorry now I can't find the discussion, but it was on your pages related to sound and pro3
To the person who go the fix thanks very much. Now I can get on with creating my videos.
To Corel - how about putting the patch out there for users to get a hold of.
I was getting near the edge of going back to version 11+ and dumping pro3 and would not have considered the idea of pro4
Thanks for your forum. It is great to see i'm not the only one going mad and even better when there are solutions..

Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
In this discussion you will find the link to the hotfix provided by Corel to remove the stuttering audio problems with Pro3
Down the bottom
Provided by Heesenproductions - it is 6meg file and does not have any viruses in it that I have picked up and it works....
