PSP X3 Ultimate won't update on different drive.

Post by Hooterville »

I just installed PSP X3 Ultimate on my second data drive on a new computer and it will not take the updates.
It says you have to have PSP installed first because it's trying to install the update on my operating system drive and not the drive I have PSP installed on.
What can I do?

Also where is that Corel uninstall tool as I can't get this mess uninstalled.

Please help?

This sounds more like a contact Corel issue than anything else. So either wait for Simone or Abiel to offer assistance or contact Corel directly.

The clean up utility can be found in the topic on how to remove PSPX3 manually. http://corel.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/ge ... 1281606771 as far as I know that's the latest version of the clean-up utility. You'll have to follow the rest of the instructions for manually deleting PSPX3 from the actual topic: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=38064

Sorry I can't be of more help.

OK, Contacted Corel and see if I ever get an answer.

Anyone have any ideas how I can have PSP installed on drive E and it sees the updates and downloads them but will not install the updates and says I have to have PSP installed on my computer before using the update.
Can you direct the Update to a certain drive or is it only looking for C drive?

I have it installed on the D: drive and it updates without a problem.
How did you install it on E:? Changing the path during the initial installation, or some other way?
How are you updating? Through "Check for Updates" or downloading the patch and running it?
What patch are you having trouble with? Do you have the previous patches installed first?

I have a new computer with a Solid State drive as my (C) & (D) drives with my operating system on it.
I have a second 2TB drive as (E) drive. Yes, I changed the path to my (E) drive when installing the program from the original disk.
I installed the program to the (E) drive and I checked for updates and it pops up with a new update to download.
I download the new update OK and when I go to install the update it says I have to close PSP first and then it won't install the update and says that I have to have PSP installed before installing the update.
The program is installed but I think it's the update is looking for it on my operating drive and not where I have it installed.

I don't know what to do.
I can't even get the program to uninstall.

I just hate to install it on my (C) drive as it's only a 160GB drive.

If you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Corel\Paint Shop Pro\13\Installer in Regedit, does it seem like it's pointing to the right place?

Like what Tim said, when go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Corel\Paint Shop Pro\13\Installer in Regedit make sure that the InstallPath contain the location on where the PSP X3 is installed. If you have the correct path, you can try manually installing the updates, you can download all the updates for PSP X3 at http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 9872271743, then double-click on each file to install them manually.

OK, Thanks
I'll take a look when I get back home.
Do I have to install updates 1-4 first or is update 4 the only update I would need on a new install of X3 Ultimate?

Thanks, I'm going to have to reinstall it as I tried to uninstall and it would not uninstall.
I used the Corel removal thing and now PSP X3 Ultimate is still there and all messed up.
I'm trying to delete all the files.
What is the deal with the uninstaller on this program?

If you have more than one account on your computer you may need to uninstall/cleanup from those other accounts as well.
