I think it's pretty good thinking and easy for any of us to do. If corel never fixes this bug at least those who have read this thread will not be bothered much in the future. Other users who don't frequent this board on the other hand.........

I am still a bit confused as I am able to get the menu to render without audio, as long as the motion menu box is checked. The audio and motion menu options are obviously both involved in the bug but I am having a bit of trouble defining the exact expected behavior. I just know I always get my DVDs to burn and never use background music. I guess it's a matter of one or the other must be active? It seems not to matter as long as one of those two is being used, the menu renders? Is that correct?

Hi John

From the Edit Tab we have the option to change some audio settings.
Select the small square icon, (set audio properties) this opens an Advanced Audio Dialog window.
Change the duration of the audio to say 2 frames and apply fade In / Out

No way will you hear anything, unless it creates a small blip.

The process continues burning without problem.

Although it maybe quicker just to add a muted audio clip.

Jeff,

This is the message I receive when trying to upload the a 30 second muted (.wav) file to this forum. I tried renaming file with a .txt extention and that didn't work either.

Any ideas? I used the "Upload attachment" tab in "Post Reply".

Try zipping the wav file, and uploading the zip file. I think there is a 2Mb file size limit. The attachments are limited to certain file types, most of which are images.

Thanks Ron,

Here's a zipped file, of a 30 second "muted" sound file that can be used to create a silent menu when substitued for the default background music, while editing a Menu in VS X4.

I finally tracked the cause my particular error. I got the error if the first clip was set as introductory video.

So are we to think that at least in some cases one should not:
1. use the introductory video option
2. delete the DVD sound track
3. turn off the motion menu
4. resize elements so they overlap

Hi!

Just joined up hoping for a simple answer, but it seems everyone is stuck at the same point and the topic died of natural causes.

FWIW, I'm using the trial version of X4 and began receiving the unspecified error stuff after unchecking the motion menu.

For the record, I also am confounded my the saving issues.

The program had promise, but is rendered useless by these errors.

I assume everyone is where they were 10 days ago and tech support is quiet on the issue?

Steve

PS In my case, the error occurred whether creating an iso or folders. Haven't tried burning since the Ulead days - always problematical for me.

Hi Steve

Yep the error occurs as soon as I hit the burn button.
The process would start with either Convert Title then Convert Menu.
But goes to Prepare Output Content immediately showing an error.

I don’t have a problem with burning as I always use a background sound, and always add a compliant video file rather than rendering the title.

Unless Corel have read this post or someone has approached their “support” then I guess it will never get fixed?
