Yes you are understanding that correctly.

For earlier versions of video studio it was a relatively simply job of copying the appropriate library files VS_Video.dat etc
You cannot copy these to the X4 directory, well you can but X4 will give an error.
Also the option to export the X2 libraries does not allow you to import to X4

Video Studio X4 has a completely different library structure.
I have not been able to move my library files as in the old days, that’s technology for you……

The only way I know is described in Ron post, which is as good as any.

FWIW,
I've sent an email to Yvonne Chang, who is one of the managers for VS. I explained this problem, asked if the intended purpose for the Library Export/Import was for backing up, to be useful within the same version, or if it was also to be utilized to migrate libraries from one version to the next. Hopefully I will get a reply that indicates a bug, and they will try to fix it, emphasis placed on Hopefully.. ;)

Thank you for the replies and for passing along the info. I'm sure I'm not the first to consider this to be a minus for upgrading. Giving it a test just the same to see if it's worth upgrading from VS Pro X2.

Is there any news on how to migrate custom libraries (titles, etc) from VS X3 to VS X4?
Thanks
Roberto

Hi
I certainly haven’t heard of any changes…..

You can manually transfer most of the library Samples and Titles from X3 to X4 by adding the library content to the timeline.
Save the project
Open project in X4
Drag clips to library.

You may be best to create a new library page for these clips.
