how to lock-open the Options Panel
Is there a way to leave the Options Panel opened as its default position ? Right now I have to click each time on the blue botton to open the Options panel at each clip that I decide to edit (it closes automatically each time) on VSX3
Thanks!
Thanks!
Guy

Re: how to lock-open the Options Panel
Is this considered a bug by Corel? I've just upgraded from X2 where this wasn't an issue. Now, I am wasting a lot of time resetting to the options panel as a move from clip to clip.

No. It's just the way it's designed.

Wildcatvideo,
we're on the page here ! I too upgraded from X2 to X3 and annoyed by that disadvantage causing extra mouse clicks inefficiently . If it is not a bug then someone in Corel forgot about the end user. I will post it as a suggestion for correction in the VSX4 wishlist .

Re: how to lock-open the Options Panel
Actually it's the X5 wish list. We are already on X4.

Re: how to lock-open the Options Panel
Hi
I don’t see it as a problem
Once the options panel is open, and that’s by selecting a clip, “Options” button or right click a clip to Open Options Panel.
Ok its open
It remains open whilst I edit my clip, I can select another clip within the timelines of a different type, titles, overlay track, audio, the panel remains open reverting to the type of clip I have selected.
I can drag clips from the library, the panel stays open, although it does mask some of the libraries content.
If I have a clip selected I can drag other clips to the timeline, I can add text within the preview window, the panel remains open.
So whilst I have a clip selected the panel remains open.
However if I navigate away from the timeline then the panel closes, mainly because the program just does not know what you are doing next.
If you use project playback then the panel closes. Unless in Title mode.
Maybe I have found my own way to navigate the timeline that generally overcomes the options panel closing. I move across the timeline by using the lower scroll bar, or the Home / End buttons below the preview screen.
I try not to scrub the timeline, that’s dragging the project position curser across the rule, but if you select “T” for title editing you can play in project playback with the options panel open.

Re: how to lock-open the Options Panel
Hi,
I take no exception to what you're saying as I currently do work around that feature too and live with it. Corel developers may have a logic behind the opening and closing of the Options panel , and the staying open at times and staying close at times depending on their logic. That logic can stay if they want , but as a customer who made many extensive videos under Ulead, X2, X3 , the basic logic should be that we should be able to see a key tool like the Options panel , once we have opened it, stay open if we want while we use all the various tools (photo, video, transtion, title, color,FX,music) , not only for some tools. As we move around thru the various clips and tracks in the timeline, the Options panel should stay opened if we want instead of appearing and disappearing constantly forcing us to undue mouse clicks . While the Options panel is opened , the scroll still allows easy selection of hidden thumbnails as required , or the user can decide to close the panel if he so desires .Adding a user selectable "stay open" option for the Option Panel should be an easy improvement for the next VS version and make , I am sure, many users like me happy again...!
Thanks !

Ron P.
you're right...wrong choice of words on my part (...maybe my french was in the way...) . I meant "Leave everything as is and add a way for users to leave the panel open if they so desire".
However , I'm pleased to hear from you that my comments are so heavy in the balance that Corel was concerned....just kidding...!!!

The "problem" is that previous versions of the same program did not have this alleged "not knowing" problem.trevor andrew wrote:I don’t see it as a problem
