OK i just got PSP X3 and I am trying to use custom fonts for pics but all I get is the stock font. Is there something I am doing wrong?? Is there a tutorial to use so i can see what I need to do?
I don't know if you're doing anything wrong because I don't actually know what it is you're doing. A custom font can be anything, true type, bitmap, post script, opentype, etc. If I remember correctly PSP only reads TrueType font formats. Don't quote me on that as I can't find an official reference to it but I did a similar search a few months ago and I remember reading that somewhere.
Have you properly installed it in Windows? Can you use it elsewhere (e.g. word processor)?
Try just opening it up (double-click it), the Windows Font viewer should pop up, and see if it's available in Paint Shop Pro while it's open.
Using the Font Viewer is actually one of the preferred methods as it doesn't bog Windows down by installing a bunch of fonts and making sure it's only loaded when you actually need it. On the other hand it's a bit annoying if you work with fonts a lot.
OK when i go into the text tool it has just one text style like the one posted in pic. It doesn't give me the option for the different font syles such as comic sans, windings, ariel, so on and so forth. I hope that helps you with what I am talking about.
Well, again, are these fonts available in other software like a word processor?
If not are they in the Fonts folder? (C:\Windows\Fonts\)
If they are in the fonts folder, does opening them up make them available to Paint Shop Pro?
I only ask because you shouldn't have to do anything. All of the fonts properly installed on Windows should be available to Paint Shop Pro. I have access to all of the fonts you mentioned as being missing for you.
The only other option I can think of is try resetting your workspace (save your current one if you've made numerous changes).
Close out of Paint Shop Pro then hold down Shift when opening Paint Shop Pro and it should ask you if you want to save the workspace. It only works on the desktop icon I believe. Otherwise go to File->Preferences->Reset Preferences and select "Reset Workspace to Default" on the dialog that pops up.
