Hi,
I have purchased VS 11 over the internet and have a Zipped file that automatically installs. Unfortunately I get an error AVcontrolSDK tring to install. It jams. I am loading the programme to my new PC as the old one died. I looked on your support pages and came across ID 762075. The hotfix does not work and I cannot operate the manual work around as I cannot unzip the contents to get at the notepad to reset AV Control. How can you help! I need to edit a video for a showing on Friday....Help!
How do I stop AVcontrolSDK jammimg!

Welcome to the forums,
Auto-installing zip file??? Where did you purchase this? I hope you didn't get screwed out of a lot of money. What "zip" utility do you have? You have tried unzipping/extracting it? I have a freebie called Zip7, which will extract "exe" files, something WInzip will not do. I would try that.

Re: Videostudio Installation Error
Hello Fluffhead,
Please keep in mind that VS 11 is no longer being sold by Corel and if a web site is still selling it, I would suggestion to be cautious, specially if it is a download/ZIP version.
Better read this KB article: http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/d ... _id/753902

Re: Videostudio Installation Error
Abiel / Ken / Pat,
Thank you for your feedback, sorry I am slow on the uptake. The version I have is 11 plus. I bought it 2/3 years ago from the Corel website, I did the 30 day trial then purchased the software, I have had no issues until I have had to change my desktop then it has jammed on AVGControlSVK. I did install it on my laptop which has Windows 7 and it worked but all my main editing software is on the desktop and this comes up with the error. It does not give me the option to unzip the file in anyway I have tried to see how I can complete the manual workaround on 762075. Is there a way of unzipping this file that I don't know about! If I can will it fix the issue, I know you said it is not compatable but I have it running on one Windows 7 machine. Your help would be apprciated.
Take Care

Re: Videostudio Installation Error
I am fairly sure that AVGControlSVK is an error message from an anti-virus programme - do you have AVG anti-virus software on your computer - it could be that seeing your installation file as a virus and preventing it running - possibly you need to stop AVG while you install.
As to un-zipping - are not the VS download files self-extracting zip files - you should not need to unzip them - can you not just 'Run' or 'open' them.

Re: Videostudio Installation Error
Brian,
Thanks, I am running Kaspersky, I will try to stop this and reload, will let you know if I succeed. The VS 11 file does unzip itself and go straight to installation. When I first got the error to went onto the Corel site and found ID 762075 which is the exact issue I have. The hotfix does not work but there is a manual fix that involves copying the contents of the installtion disk onto your desktop making an adjustment then installing. I don't have the disk only the file that came down when I purchased it on line. Is there a way I could unzip the contents my software won't let me.
Thanks

Re: Videostudio Installation Error
Fluff -- I am afraid there is not much we will be able to do for you. As has been stated above, VS 11 is simply not fully compatible with Windows 7, which is what you are running. Strange things happen when you run something which is not compatible. The hotfix you mention was written for Vista, not for Win 7, so that won't work... I don't know what to suggest since I can't think of anything apart from trying out X4...
