Paste as New Image -- Remap ???

Post by thumper300zx »

In Paint Shop Pro X (and every version I can remember BEFORE then) Paste as New Image was CTRL+V. Now, PSP has changed it to CTRL+SHIFT+V -- annoys the crap out of me! Any way to remap it?

Yes there is. Of course I've always used Shift + Insert for pasting so I never really noticed the change. XD

1 ) Go to your View menu and select Customize (View->Customize) - the customize menu is where you can edit a whole host of information like menu shortcuts, word phrasing, unused commands, binding scripts and adding them to menus, even changing up the context menus and of course changing short-cut keys like Ctrl + V.

2 ) Select the Keyboard tab

3 ) Select "Edit" from the category drop down box to edit the Edit commands keyboard shortcuts.

4 ) Scroll through the list box to find "Past As New Layer" and select it. Below you should see the description "Past clipboard contents into the current document as a new layer" as well as the currently assigned short-cut keys and a box for identifying new ones.

5 ) Click on the key combination "Ctrl + V" inside the currently assigned box. The "Remove" button should now be active

6 ) Click Remove - the key combination is no longer assigned to any other command. This is a necessary step.

7 ) Select "Past As New Image" from the list box now.

8 ) Click inside the "Press New Shortcut Key" text box and hit the key combination you want to add to this command "Ctrl + V". It will pop up with a list of commands that this key combination is assigned to. It should say "[Unassigned]" which means we properly erased it from the list of the other command.

9 ) Click the "Assign" button and it should now be saved as one of the shortcuts for "Paste As New Image."

10 ) You can go ahead and reassign "Ctrl + Shift + V" to Paste as New Layer if you want or get rid of it altogether. Up to you how you want to further customize your workspace.

Hope this helped.
