No color picker for vignette

Post by erdmannj »

New to the Forum and couldn't find this issue in a search. VS 10 vignette no longer shows ulead color picker when selecting matte. I get the color picker when selecting a border under attributes, but with vignette all i get is a gray scale to select from.

Maybe a corrupt file or am I missing a setting? Have used VS 10 for 6 years with no issues.

I've attached a snapshot of the problem.

Thanks,

John

Hi John

And welcome to the forums

I have just tried the “vignette” filter, the Matte colour selects the colour picker , no problems.
Try as I might I cannot select the greyscale option?

Is it the same for all types of video file?

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for the quick response. I've tried the vignette on avi, mpeg, wmv, jpeg, all with the same result. Only the gray scale comes up no color picker. I saw the post in the forum about the video filters dropping off and tried removing the rsf file. VS created a new file but still had same results, no color picker for vignette. I'm in the middle of getting shows ready for the swim banquet and don't really want to uninstall and reinstall right now. I noticed that VS10 doesn't have a repair feature in the add/remove programs. I could try a system restore to last year (ha). I haven't removed any programs or changed any video settings.

Still scratching my head.

Thanks,

john

Is your VS10 a full or SE version? By the way the color picker is mis-behaving it almost seems like an SE version gone bad, or the video clip is being seen as a grayscale image. I'm thinking that the only way to correct it is to reinstall it.

Hi Ron,

I originally downloaded the trial version and then purchased VS10 plus online. Not sure of the difference in full and SE. I guess I could always get with the program and upgrade. Can I reinstall VS10 without uninstalling my old version? Will that replace any corrupt file or just see that the file is already there and skip over it?

Thanks,

john

TBYB, oh boy... unless by purchasing on-line you did download the full version, and still have those files.

First before I'd uninstall, I would make sure I had a copy of the downloaded TBYB, or the downloaded ESD, if not, check to see if you can download it still. Next do you have the activation and serial number? Activation only applied to the TBYB, not the ESD. If not I doubt that Corel will be able to provide the activation for it. If you registered it with Ulead, now Corel, they should have your serial number listed in your account.

There's no way to do a Repair install with the TBYB or ESD versions. With the boxed version it was possible to do a repair install. So the first thing you would see is a prompt asking if you want to remove the program. Not good if you can't reinstall it. Finally Corel only offers upgrade pricing to VS X2, VS X3, and their Digital Studio Program. Nothing older than VS X2. You would have to pay the full price for the current version, VS X4. :(

Ron,

I still have vs10_plus_e installation pack, the vs10_contentpack_e and the vs10_bonus pack (all files on the HD). I also have the serial number but not sure if I can locate the activation code after all these years. I may wait until I get through with the banquet shows this month and try an uninstall/reinstall. The vignette is a nice filter to use but not essential. I still get promotional emails from Corel so I may be able to pick up a current program at a good price.

Just surprises me that the picker suddenly stopped working.

Thanks for you help,

john

Hi John

I assumed from the first post that you previously were able to select the colour picker

There is another editing option to create a Vignette.
Place a colour clip in the top track/ colour of your choice.
Place your video in the first Overlay track, resize to fit/right click preview screen for options
Apply Mask Chrome Key choosing the Type as Mask Frame

Hi John

From Video Studio 10 select the ? top right
Choose “About Video Studio” will show the version and serial number.

I have just run the VS 10 installation file and it gives me the option to Repair

Maybe you should give it a *** a repair may re-set the library

If you do have the full version then there should be no problems in doing a full re-install, (Clean Install) given that you have the serial number.
I have the upgrade version, during install I am asked for its serial number and a previous versions serial number, just to make sure I qualify.

Your PC’s add and remove folder should indicate whether it’s a SE version?
Mine simply shows as UleadVideoStudio 10

He looks good to go, for reinstalling. The files that he has are not TBYB, they are the Full ESD versions, (upgrade just refers to the price). If you have the serial number that's all you should need, as they only used activation codes for the TBYB back then. I only have the boxed version for VS 10, so I knew that it allowed repair for it, but was unsure about the ESDs. I recall raising an issue with Ulead, about not being able to do repair installs, but that may have been before VS 10.
