VideoStudio Pro X4 & Intel Quick Sync

Post by martythebrit »

Just downloaded a trial of VideoStudio X4, so far so good.

However, is there an option inside the program to use Intel Quick Sync or does the program does detect and use it automatically when you encode with H264?

Thanks,
Marty.

I don't think it does -- at least I have never seen any reference to it in relation to X4; only to NVidia CUDA, which X4 apparently does support. I know, for instance, that Quick Sync now works with Adobe Premiere CS4 and CS5 as well as the latest version of Premiere Elements. But that required a special plug-in, and again I have seen no reference to a plug-in being developed for Corel products, including on the Intel website: http://search.intel.com/Default.aspx?cu ... quick+sync

They sure made it sound like they did when they mentioned that it was specially optimized for the second generation Core processors.

Maybe they will support it in the future.

By the way, in the preferences there is a check box for use hardware encoders and decoders under file creation, any idea what this does?

Thanks,
Marty.

The become active when you have a GPU with CUDA, as far as I am aware...

I don't have, nor have I ever had an Nvidia card but they are active and I'm able to check them, not that it makes much difference.

Then I suppose you would have to make sure hardware acceleration -- if available with your GPU -- is enabled in Settings > Preferences > Performance. But I still have never seen any separate reference to Quick Sync in X4...
