PSP vs PI

Post by trueblue »

PhotoImpact has been a great workhorse for me over many years. It contains some great features, ie: EasyPalette, just to mention one.

Corel are not updating this software any longer, but what I would like to see is, some of those great features in PI implemented in PSP.

Whilst PSP is gearing toward the photographer, I want Corel to keep in mind of the graphics side and improve it. If Corel take on board the suggestions given, and make the program stable and fix up the memory problem, it could have an excellent piece of software to rival PS. Try keep the program simple and easy to use.... unlike PS.

Maureen,
There's several of us VideoStudio (Ulead) followers, that have repeatedly requested at least one feature or function be transferred from PI to PSPP. That is the proprietary working file UFO. Corel continues to develop VS, which has used a DVD burning module or a separate DVD authoring program. In either case, the menus are created using the UFO format. PI has always been the only way to build them from scratch or really customize them. By customize, I'm not referring to the method used in the authoring applications, but using PI to redesign or completely replace parts.

Corel needs to add UFO into the many file formats that is accepted by PSPP, since they still have not changed this in the DVD authoring applications. There is a growing problem, where they provide the same menu templates each and every release, and it seems now that they provide fewer and fewer.

But not make it simplistic. Unfortunately the trend in the Corel versions of PSP is to ignore the graphics side, reduce functionality of existing tools and add "features" that are simplistic to the point of being useless.
I agree with you too. If PI is to be left to die then some of its great features should be preserved.
