Where are the Smart Scene Menus?

Post by skyml »

Ok, just got and installed the box version of VS X4. Uninstalled the TBYB ver and then installed the boxed full version. It retained all the custom instant projects I downloaded for the TBYB ver and all other downloads. :) I went through it all to see what content was added and saw a lot of new content.

But when I went to the Disc authoring program I saw only 6 basic and boring menu templates under AVCHD and Blu-ray and only 3 templates under BD-J while all the smart scene menus were found only under DVD?!?

Why are the smart scene menus missing from AVCHD and Blu-ray???

Am I missing something???

I also find it sad to see the 3D menus in the really bad DVD Factory Pro 2010 not available in X4 but interesting to find the templates in instant projects.... any way of making these DVD menus for AVCHD or Blu-ray?

I don't know about the boxed version as I do not have it.

But the DVD Factory 2010 menu templates, as I understand it, were made by another company, and probably using code which was written into DVD Factory, but not into the old burning module which has now been reincorporated into VS. I agree, though, that they were very good -- the only good thing about that program! And it would be nice if they could be included in VS as well, though I suspect that there might be licensing issues and fees Corel would have to pay involved as well

Hello skyml,

You can actually download more Template, Audio, Titles, Tools by going to the Corel Guide...

Thanks for your reply but I did that already before I posted and stated so in my post.... What you suggest does not add anything to the DVD Menu templates as far as I can tell. I downloaded and verified all new content via the download option you listed. Am I doing something wrong?

The problem, is that I can access many different menu templates for DVD Menu Disc creation, most notibly the smart scene menus (though I do miss the 3D menus from the failed DVD Factory 2010 that came with VS X3 that I see now as templates under "instant Project - Complete" but not as a Disc Menu Template for creating Disc Menus).

When I go to create an AVCHD or Blu-ray Disc, I have no smart Scene Menu templates to choose from like I find under DVD and the selection of Disc Menus for AVCHD and Blu-ray are rather boring and seem childish.

I shoot everything in HD now days and have little use for SD video or SD DVD movies and find the need for more professional menu options then I currently find for HD Discs.

Is there a way to access the smart scene menus found under DVD for HD Disc formats (AVCHD or Blu-ray)??? Why are these menu templates available for DVD's but not AVCHD or Blu-ray? Also, will there be more menu choices for BD-J? The selection there is also very limited.

I should add here that I had never checked when you first posted, but have now done so on my activated TBYB version of X4. And I too don't have any SmartScene menu templates available for Blu-Ray and AVCHD discs. I too have only 8 of the fairly boring, common or garden variety templates. And I have downloaded and installed the two extra content packs too. Hmmm...

Just got off the phone with Corel Tech support.... can say that after talking to a 2nd level tech that Corel has no interests in what we users (customers) need, expect or want from their product and their "tech support and customer service" is pretty pathetic.

According to Corel... the best Disc menu templates are only available for the lesser disc format - DVD. AVCHD and Bluray disc authors have only 8 basic (and childish) menu template options to choose from. No smart scene menus and none of the menus available for DVD disc's. I was told that Corel made it that way and have no intentions of adding new or better ones for HD content discs or even giving us access to the ones we have under DVD disc authoring.

Corel also did not give a Rats A$$ about features we had in previous versions and refused to escilate this issue up further. This is the way they made it and I was basically told to suck it up. The fact that in X3 we had the same menu templates available regardless of which disc medium we created a project for meant nothing to Corel and told me I should not compare previous version or previous features. I don't burn DVD anymore so what about those of us who are actually in the world of HD video?

Man, do I miss ULEAD! They created this product and cared about their customers. Corel bought this and in their efforts to carry it on are missing major features that we customers demand and expect. Thought about adding this to the "wish list" for the next version but what's the point?!
