Hi
Because of the difference in default settings I have always used Make Movie Manager to create my templates and will continue to do so.
It was standard for Digital Video to use Lower field and Analogue to use Upper, till the introduction of HD, oh why didn’t they make HD lower field?
And yes X4 seems to be using Upper as default.
There is of course the Show Messages option that will match the projects to video files.
Guess I’m in a small and shrinking minority as a DV user

I have never used the Wizards to capture my footage, and have to admit I am having trouble finding the Quick Scan option, I have however seen it before, but for the live of me struggling.
What version of VS are you using?

Trevor, I'm using VS Pro X4.
"DV Quick Scan" is just below "Capture Video" on the Capture tab.

Re: X4 trial Split by Scene - Capture DV-Avi
I call it a bug, because in the past the field order for the video file you were set to create, adopted the filed order of the project and/or video file in your project. So if you had DV, LFF, the MPEG-2 in the Share>Create Video File would also be LFF. Currently it's just stuck at UFF..

Hi Kingstone
My brain was geared to the Movie Wizards.
Ok I have run a test capture, seems to take longer given that it is called “Quick Scan”
I can see the advantages of being able to select which clips I wish to capture.
The main point is that the “rogue frame” has disappeared.
Now I will capture a full tape to see how it goes.
Big Thanks.
So why does normal DV capture have the problem.

That's interesting -- I didn't normally use Quick Capture in 10+ (my previous version) because it DID give a "rogue" frame! And so never thought of trying it in X3...

Re: X4 trial Split by Scene - Capture DV-Avi
Hi
I have just tried the Quick Scan method.
Not so quick as the tape is first scanned, then clips captured one at a time.
Lots of movement from the camera as it positions the tape for the next capture.
Capture is however good with no frame issues.
Just takes too long, back to Win DV with the added advantage of naming my captured files.
