System Requirements for X3

Post by johko »

I know what the system requirements are for X3 and my computer meets those, but it still seems slow editing AVCHD video. An example of slow is when I click on a video in the timeline it will take 3-5 seconds before the video clip is active and I can trim it. These are short clips, maybe 10-15 seconds in length.

What kind of machine will I notice a difference with? I'm running on XP, 1.8Ghz dual core CPU, and 2GB RAM, integrated graphics card. I would like to speed up the time it takes to create proxy files, the time to export to 1080 mpg, and the time it takes to make clips "active" when editing. Suggestions?

Your computer in fact is only at the bare minimum to be able to edit and play AVCHD. Even on my Quad, it takes a couple of seconds, when I click on an AVCHD file in the Library, for it to become 'active' so that I can drag it to the timeline. And rendering of AVCHD is also always slow. A much more powerful computer would probably help...

How much more powerful? :) I'm ready to buy, I just don't really want to under or over buy.

Hello johko,

You may also want to enable the Smart Proxy of VideoStudio Pro X3, to know more about Smart Proxy and how to set it up, you can access this: http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/d ... _id/764354

If you're buying a new computer and you want to know the best system.

Here's a couple of suggestion.
Processor: Intel Corel i5
RAM: 4 GB
Video Card: Mid-range to high end graphics card from ATI or Nvidia

Or any mid to high end branded computer will do.

I always use smart proxy files. Actually I couldn't edit without it. It would be nicer if they would be created faster.
