Muted Audio at start of clips? CSV PRO X4

Post by movie_maker_man »

im currently trying out Corel VideoStudio Pro X4,

when i insert different clips into the timeline, as the project plays the audio doesnt start instantly, and there's almost like a 1sec delay before the audio appears.

does anyone know if this is able to be eliminated or disabled somewhere? i seen that there was audio fade in/out options, which can be set to 1-999 (but no 0)

hope someone can help, as this software seems to be very good :)

hi there, thanks for quick reply. sorry im new and should of checked before posting heh.

source clip is xvid (mp3 cbr audio), which i am sort of editing/chopping so as to change the order of current timeline. source of the video is from my tv capture card. it plays fine normally, also the project acts (audio not muted) when play it when editing, its just when output it

output format: wmv broadband (352x288) 30fps

Welcome to the forum!

Is there 1 second of audio actually missing when it begins playing, or does it start at the beginning, only 1 second later than the beginning of the video?

Also, does your TV capture card actually capture in XVid format (which sounds just a little strange to me) or can it capture in a less compressed format like DVD-compatible mpeg-2? I assume, also, that you have the XVid codec on your computer...

Finally, why are you outputting to another highly compressed, and complex, format such as WMV? Both XVid and WMV are supposed to be display formats and not supposed to be edited much if at all. So going from one to the other is just going to compound any problems...

hi,

no my capture card captures in dvd compatible mpeg2 yes (but i convert to xvid to slim down the hard drive impact heh).

there is a 1 second gap at each clip or cut in the timeline (but only when its been exported to wmv)

i've not been really good at explaining things at times heh, but what im trying to say is i have 3 clips, at the start of each clip there is a 1 second "silence" when each clip is played there is a one second silence.

i've included a basic idea of hopefully explaining a bit better heh. But as i mentioned, when playing it back through CVS, its fine its only when its exported to wmv

Timeline eg:

[1sec] [1sec] [1sec]
|----------|---------|--------|
