The purchased filters or ones that were included with earlier versions of VS? If they are the purchased ones, just run New Blue's installer. It should present a menu having all the programs that the filters support. There should be checks in the boxes beside the programs and versions you have installed.

The installer may not actually find X4 on your system -- I seem to recall that happening with Essentials I, II and III. Only IV actually saw the program. However, IIRC, there is an Add button in the installation process where you browse to where X4 is located and select it as a target for Essentials.

Hi,

I had only in FX table under Video essentialll with only one Fx which PIP. I have also Video Essential Fx only Pixelator.
I have sent 2 emails to NewBlue Fx Support but I have heard nothing from them.

I have just installed Video Essentials II to my new installation of VS X4. I had already installed it to my existing versions of X2 and X3 (and to Adobe editing products on my computer). As I said above, it reached a Corel screen with Add at the bottom. I browsed to my Program Files\Corel\Corel Video Studio Pro X4\ folder and then selected the vft_plug sub-folder and clicked OK. The Essentials package was installed, and next time I opened X4 and selected the Filters button, NewBlue Video Essentials II appears as one of the selections.

FWIW, I spent several weeks with New Blue regarding a problem with my processor, AMD Athlon 64, 3200+, running WinXP HP. Everytime I would install Video Essentials IV, it would crash both VS X3 and VS X4 (beta). However they finally discovered an instruction, that needed correction, and I was able to install it. Now, since the release of the Official version of VS X4, I'm back to where Video Essentials IV will crash VS X4. I'm not sure what Corel changed, but there must be something slightly different in the last beta version we had, and the current released version, as it will install and work in VS X3.

I'll add that New Blue's support is excellent!! They'll work with you as long as it takes.

I did exactly as Ken said, selecting ADD button and then chosin new pathway for Video Studio Pro X4 by selecting in the end its vft plug. Sure enough, under fx in Pro X 4 was listed my Video Essentials 1, 2 and 3. Only... when I selected them, the thumb nails of the filters were empty or black. When I dragged them to a clip in the timeline, a window appeared saying that the filter was corrupted. What to do? Received no reply from New Blue's tech support on this issue. Regards, Mike

If you have duplicate icons in the FX library for them, the only way to clear them, is by deleting or renaming a folder. VS will then rebuild that folder when you restart it. However if you have other Folders, they will be lost. So I would first back them up by going to Settings/Library Manager/Export Library.

The folder is located on Vista (and presumably Win7);
C:\Users\Your User Name Here\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0 Delete or rename the "14.0" folder. Then when you start VS it should rebuild it.

After doing that then try installing your NB FX filters. The odd thing is that I did not have problems with NB FX filters & VS X4 on my Vista machine, only my WinXP machine. Could you please go to your User Control Panel, the Profile tab, and complete as much as you can of your System Information?

After installing NB Fx Video Essentials 1,2 and 3 on my Pro X4, their 30 FX filter icons or thumbnails that appeared (10 in each Video Essential volume), when selected, were totally black, empty. Of these 30 blacked out Fx filters, only 6 were duplicates of those that came with Pro X4. Before this, I had successfully installed all 3 NB Fx Essential volumes on my Pro X2. And as I recently noted, my Pro X4 would not accept the Smart Package of my library from Pro X2. However, to give praise where due, everything else on Pro X4 is working beautifully... so far.
