Hi boxy

I was just messing around with VS X3 standard Avchd 1440 template
I created a 5 minute video (514Mb) then added it 10 times to DVD MF7 to give 50 minutes.
I have selected the options cogwheel to show the project properties, these are the same as the video properties.
Now there is no way I am gonna fit this to a standard 4.7Gb disc.

I do not know what I am doing differently. But the properties are different, are you converting to AVCHD.

Hi boxy

I have completed a few tests using the standard templates. (Avchd and Bluray)
It would appear that X2 produces significantly smaller files than X3.
This would explain why your 50 minutes fits to disc?

Wow... I do not know. Perhaps X2 does shrink the file. The original was 5.5+ GB when I placed it in the burning stage, yet came out only about 4 GB after the burn.

I will have to try your experiment and place ten 500 MB files in there and see what happens.

Hi Boxy

A dvd holds 4.3 Gb of data, your file at 5.5 Gb may be rendered by X2 to fit to disc.

It must be X2's doing because when I tried to 'hybrid' a similar file using VS11+ it did not quite fit. Very strange .....

I did see an LG Internal BR burner for 100 bucks. Maybe I'll need to change the title of this thread. :)

No, for now I am pleased but as the prices drop for BR burners and discs I will be looking. I should also mention that my blu-ray player has a USB input. I can plug an external HD in and it will play video files. It also is networked to my computer and can play files from there, too, so many options exist for playing videos on the HDTV.
