Fade out left and right side of image

Hi, is there any way to fade out both the left and right side of an image? I am trying to make a background image for the header of a webpage. I can use Fade Out to fade out either the left or right sides, but not both. I've tried the circular fade out, but I want the top and bottom of the image to not be faded out at all.

Edit: As so often happens, within five minutes of posting up a question, I've worked out how to do it myself!
I used Edit, Fade Out
then chose Multiple Color
then chose no. 4
then changed 'Ring' from 90 to 270 (thus rotating the ring 180 degrees, meaning that the faded part was on the left and right edges, rather than in the middle - remember, the black part on the ring is the most faded part on the image), and voila, it works beautifully!
