Post by dpat2000 »

I can not get video fx transitions to show up. I put the VIDEOFX.VFX file into the program folder vfx_plug.
Can anyone help with this.
Thanks Doug

I will try when I can find what I did with Canopus VideoFX... I have not used it now for a couple of versions... But do you have the full program or just that one file?

Hello Doug,

Just a thought, did you made sure that you did not hide the video fx?

Abiel -- Canopus VideoFX are in fact transitions. They are installed as a separate program under Canopus, but there is a bridging transition which goes into VS's VFX_Plug folder. You insert that as a transition in a VS project, and it opens the Canopus program to allow you to use one of the Canopus transitions. As such, it is not affected by the Video button you refer to.

dpat2000 -- I finally found my disc with the Canopus VideoFX stand-alone program on it. I have installed it, and then added the separate VIDEOFX.VFX to my X4 vfx_plug directory. I opened X4, and then clicked on the Transitions icon. VideoFX now shows up at the bottom of the list.

Sometimes, the list of transitions gets filled with others you may have added, and there seems to be a limit on the number of names that will appear on the drop down list. However, if you press ALL, then VideoFX should also appear then. (Just tested that, and it is there...)

I have also successfully added it to X3 and X2...

Ken, did I understand correct in that you are able to use your Old Canopus video FX in VS X4? I have the old Xplode effects and a lot of Borris effects that I used to use with MSP 7 (could never get them to work in MSP 8). Is it possible I could get them to work under VS X4???????

:( When I get back (out on a short trip right now) I will have to dig oout my Xplode 4.0 and my old Borris Effects.... I know that the install programs for these will probably not find my install of VS and could possibly not work on Win 7 but if I could get them to work then I would be elated! These were great for some custom action films I made for Skydiving, Motorcross and Mountain Bikers. Haven't seen anything that does what these did (the Borris was kinda old but the Xplode 4.0 was way ahead of it's time!).
