Initial Image Size

Post by CSM »

How do I set default so that when I open image, it shows the full image all on the screen. Now it shows up as 1:1, so it is too big and I have to zoom out each time.

Thanks, Carl

1) Open up your General Program Preferences (File->Preferences->General Program Preferences) Under View in the New Images frame make sure that Auto Size is selected. This will make sure to automatically resize images when you open them.

2) Don't use the tabbed document interface (Window->Tabbed Documents) because in X3 there is a bug where using the tabbed interface all but the first image, and sometimes the first image as well, are always zoomed into 100%.

Good feedback, but still doesn't work. 1) the Autosize is selected. 2) no tabbed images. Doesn't seem like the autosize is working. Opens at 100% each time. I tried unselecting, and the reselecting, and same thing does not size correctly.

Then the bug effects you differently....assuming it's the same bug.

The other option is to create a script that for every image opened it will resize even though PSP doesn't. I think someone posted such a script on the forums here but I can't be sure. Would take some checking.

Any chance that Corel can just fix the bug?

Just fix it? Technically. It has been reported, it is known. But obviously acts differently on different computers. For example if I turn off tabbed documents all of the images resize as expected. It's also possible that since it isn't a big problem it's not high on their fix list.

It is on the list of fixes Corel is looking at fixing that's all we really have as users. Patch #5 promises a fix for a few graphical bugs so who knows what all is going to be in there. But they can't just fix it right now. I only suggest the script as a temporary fix or just learn to deal with it until an actual fix comes. I mean it takes less than a second to zoom out to the size you want per image so it's not exactly a pressing concern. :D

So exactly what the fix is...we have no idea but it is on the list of fixes Corel is looking at fixing. Patch #5 promises a fix for a few graphical bugs so who knows what all is going to be in there. Thanks.... guess I was a bit sarcastic in my response, as I was not impressed by Corel's customer support.

I'm a long time PSP user, and thought it would have been a little better from them. At least this
forum is very responsive, and I appreciate that. I'll look for the macro. I have another macro issue
for resizing and renaming that I made that I need to investigate anyway that used to work on older
version but isn't working on the new X3.
