VideoStudioProx4 trouble making dvd with dv files

Post by farmwife92 »

I have made dvds from AVCHD camcorder and mov. files but can't make a movie from a dv. I imported a file from my dv camcorder and tried to make a dvd but get an "unsprecified error". I then created a video file and coverted to mpg. file and then tried to make a dvd but it didn't work either. Still get an "unspecified error". Any suggestions would be appreciated.

DV (avi) video is one the best and easiest formats to work with. The first time, I'm guessing you went to the burn module with your project file, and tried to burn a DVD that way, and it failed. So you then went back to the editor, created a DVD compliant MPEG-2 file, and tried to burn a DVD using that, which also failed? What I"m not clear on is your statement "I then created a video file and coverted to mpg". You created what type of video file, which you then converted to MPEG. Is this MPEG file that you converted to, a DVD compliant MPEG-2?

In your project, if you have your DV clips, once your finished editing, in the Share step, you should have gone to Create Video File> DVD>NTSC (or PAL), and of course the correct aspect ratio, 4:3 or 16:9. This would produce a DVD compliant MPEG-2. Once that is done, clear the time-line, which is done easily by going to File menu>New Project. Then go directly to the Share step, and Create Disc, to open the burn module. In the burn module, insert your newly created DVD Compliant MPEG-2, then proceed on to add chapters, build your menus, preview, the burn DVD Folders or your disc. I recommend burning DVD folders, so that you can inspect it using a software media player.
