Unfortunately fixing bugs is tuffer and not as exciting as writing new software or new features.
I work as a consultant for a software company. Those who do the development feel it is beneath them to fix their bugs (that they created). Those assigned to fix the bugs are the equivalent of software janitors/trashmen. I doubt is diffrent with Corel.

I'm not defending Corel. The only thing companies understand is $.
I've been saying that for years - every time someone complains bugs aren't being fixed. I'm sure X5 is already being worked on...

Thank you Ron for validating the Red, Green, Blue, Brown clip menu test. Were you able to successfully burn your chapters to a main Menu and Sub-chapter file, or folder without error? Or did you try that step? Could you please try that step?

Also, Thank You, to each of you forum moderators for taking a look at this problem. Do any of you have, special authority or clout, to elevate a red flag to Corel for some sort of reply to this? I can't imagine Corel would be too successful, trying to sell a broken product.

I was able to burn folders without a problem. I had a main menu and a chapter menu. This was done with the colors example. I haven't tried it with actual video clips yet.

I downloaded your 3 mp4 video files, and tested them in VS X4, where I was able to burn DVD Folders.

Wish I could burn something in X4.
Oh, well, maybe in 6months or a year from now I'll download the "next" version and retest.

No -- based on the existing pattern, new releases should only be expected at least a year after the last one...

Hello everyone. I have turned my red, green, blue graphic menu test problem into Corel as a trouble ticket. They have accepted my actual file and description of the menu burning "unspecifed error 5.0.0.0" problem. They are going to test the scenarios, including the chapter re-naming issue, where the re-names get dropped in authoring stage. I'll report back here with their findings, whether it's the program or my workstation that is the root-cause.

Craig,
I hope they do fix all of it. It would be a nice miracle to have the Chapter names finally hold into the burn module. I just finished burning a DVD, where I had several chapters. I also found during my project, that once I created my MPEG-2 file, all the chapter marks were gone. This has never happened in the past. At least the chapter marks were seen in the module as Scenes. All that I was required to do, is name them. This time I had to go through and add all the chapters again.

Thanks.. :)

There are SEVERAL buggs here (including stuff that previously worked) that MUST be fixed.
It's only a matter of time before the masses start "screaming" @ Corel.
I HOPE they do the responsible thing and fix them.

Here's an update for you. I've NEVER EVER used motion menus, if for no other reason that it slows the rendering process.

Well, guess what...that's what causes X4 to fail with the Unspecified Error Message.

So, either this issue was never fixed from the prior version(s) or was rebroken.

Anyone want to retest w/o motion menus? I tried "burning" an ISO file....before w/o the motion menus and it always failed. Now, with motion menus enabled it works!

Whatta hassle....

The cynic in me says this is the reason WHY even if you uncheck motion menu for main/chapter menus to save the project, they always revert to motion menu regardless.

I think Corel is trying to tellus use motion menus or else. :?

Yahoo.... I too can now burn a DVD with Menus, but only if Motion Menus are enabled. I prefer simple, No Motion menus, but if that's what it takes to be successful, so be it. Like you said Walt, that must be why Motion Menus are the default.
