Personally, I'd try the laptop first. That way, if it works, you would at least know there is something with the set-up on your PC...

I will do that and report back.
However my "problem" win7 PC is only several months old and thusfar VS is the only app I'm having trouble with. :(

Guys,

I have a registered, paid for version of VSX4 that behaves identical to Walts in the burn phase with non-motion menus. I could not burn Walt's video WITH menus, only WITHOUT. If Ken can do it, there must be something about mine and Walt's workstations that are different from Ken's.

Additional info: I even 1)removed my previous installs of VSX2 and VSX3, rebooted 2) Ran the Corel Cleanup utility tool to clean the registry and files of any residue 3) Rebooted 4) Ran clean install of VSX4 with my license 5) Checked my Corel profile to verify that my product is registered.

I'm very curious if Walt has success with his laptop install. Maybe laptops are the issue for some reason.

My thoughts....

Craig....since you and I are the loners here, can you get into your BIOS and see if CPU virtualization support is enabled or disabled?

I'm going to retest with it disabled, just to see if anything changes.

Disabling virtualization in the BIOS changed nothing.
After the top progress bar flips over to "outputting content" w/in 60 secs the error message appears never creating the menus.

As Craig says, if we don't create any menus, the burning model appears to work fine.

Not very nice tho... :(

Walt,

I'm at a loss. I don't have any other ideas to try, or look at. I keep reading a lot of discussion about directx in many of the VisualStudio forums, sounding like it can be a source of problems. I seem to have the latest version of directx 11, so I don't know of any other issues to review in my personal configuration.

Me either, Craig.
I'll install X4 on my laptop tomorrow and report back here.
I either need to solve my X2 audio problem or get X4 to work properly.
Post something if you come up with any new ideas.
I'll do likewise.

Just completed attempted dvd burn on new laptop TBYB VS4 installation.
Exactly same unspecified error failure in exactly the same place.

Something is hosed here and it's not my computers. :(

Maybe in time Corel will find the issue and fix it, but for now I've no choice but to table X4 for now.

This suggestion might be on a level with "is it plugged in" but if you are having a problem with the downloaded version you might try downloading a fresh copy and reinstalling with it. Maybe you got a corrupt download

Here's MY X4 work around.

Find the "secret" patch for the X3 audio stuttering problem that's in another thread somewhere on this board....maybe someone can post the link in a separate thread?

Render an mpg file for your project containing all the clips you need in X3.

Open the now patched X3 and put the aforementioned mpg file on the timeline.

Open the DVD burning module. Do whatever you want with menus, etc. Everything is correctly saved (someplayce), whenever that happens.

Proceed with the burn.

Correction, the "secret patch" only correctx X3.
So, I create my mpg project file in X3, and then move that file to the X2 timeline and use X2 to burn.
Sorry for the confusion.
I suppose I could successfully create the mpg file in X4 (faster??), then use X2 to burn.
