Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Walt,
I don't have VS2, but I had what has been referred to as "audio studdering" with X3 after the patches were applied. If I uninstalled X3, then re-installed the program without the patches, the audio problem went away. I have seen no problems with the audio in X4, so that's a good thing. it would be great if there is a simple fix for menuing in X4. That's a pretty big deal, with a major feature of the program.

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Thanks. I think I already uninstalled X3 and reinstalled and it still had the audio problem.
Can you give me the exact steps you followed please?
Thankx.

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Now back on air!
However, wstagner, I am unable to replicate your problem with the files I downloaded.
I put all three in the X4 timeline, then selected Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning module opened with the project file in the burning timeline. I made sure 'Create Menu' was ticked then selected Next. I accepted the first menu which came up (but also tested it on another one). I previewed it and it seemed to work fine, at least in the Preview. So I proceeded to the final Burn page. I did not burn an actual disc, but selected the DVD_Folders option. Pressed Burn and as expected it came up with an indication it was converting the title (i.e. the video in the project file), then that it was converting the menu to video. This process was surprisingly fast as it was much faster than in earlier versions of VS, particularly when a conversion from mp4 to mpeg-2 was involved. Anyway, the process appeared to end successfully.
I then opened the DVD Folder in ArcSoft Total Media Theatre 3, and the whole thing played properly, including the menu. So what can I say?

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Ken....I sure appreciate your efforts. I NEVER tick those DVD folder boxes, but I will try that next.
PLEASE try unticking those boxes and try burning an actual DVD. For me, the procedure NEVER COMES CLOSE to the actual burning so you will not waste a blank DVD.
I will try what you did and report back here.

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Ok, I checked make disk image, not burn CD.....still fails for me....same place....unspecified error 5:0:0. Never comes close to writing the file.
If you're not getting this the ONLY conclusion I can draw is that there's a dif between the paid and TBYB version.
I guess we'll wait and see what others report here.
Thanks for your help.

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Corel have assured me that the TBYB version is a fully functioning version, missing only ancillary things like extra menu templates and such. There would simply be no point in disabling the ability to burn a DVD as this would discourage all users of the trial version from buying the full version. My own experience was that activation of the TBYB version merely removed the time limitation and allowing me to register it. It also gave me access to two extra URLs which allowed me to download the extra content.
I will see if I can find an RW DVD on which to try to burn a DVD, but if I managed to "burn" a DVD Folder, which is the full DVD structure only not on a disc, I imagine I will have no trouble burning an actual disc. Will let you know!

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Ok....I ticked both folders, not wanting to burn a DVD this time.
Still fails with unspecified error.
What I'm also noticing is that regardless of whether I save the ENTIRE project or not, my DVD chapters ALWAYS reverts to motion menu even though it is SAVED as NO MOTION.
I'm quite certain there's a bug here and maybe even affecting the burning procedure.

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
Please complete your system information found on the Profile tab, in your User Control Panel. There may be a conflict with something on your system, or how your system is set up. If it works for Ken, and does not for you, that would be about the only difference. I know that Ken and I both are using TBYB versions. When you activate it, there is no change in the functions, none!!

OK, I've updated my profile.
I've also uploaded a pic of the screen when my burn fails, here:

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
I have just burned your files successfully to a DVD. This time I even added an opening title and transitions. Burned quickly, and plays back with no problems, including the menu.

Re: X4...Can't burn a DVD
You guys think there would be any benefit to uninstalling/reinstalling VS4?
Would it even allow me to do that?
I'd planned to install it on my Toshiba i5 cpu-based laptop. I can try that too. It also has win7 64bit.
My BIOS has the default settings except for 1....and that's virtualization support which is enabled. However I don't have any VMs running and Win7 has exclusive use of all system resources.
