I don't know, I don't have a 3D camera or the glasses to test this. I certainly am not going to mess my eyes up, looking cross-eyed at a video clip to achieve a 3D look.
The TBYB version is a fully functional, so if you have not downloaded it to try this out, you're welcome to do so. I do know that it can output simulated 3D.
We always respect the opinion of others. If you purchase VS X3 30 days before VS X4 was release and you bought it from us or from corel.com, then we can give you free upgrade for the VideoStudio Pro X4. Just ready a copy of the Order Confirmation Number and then call our Sales Team at 1-877-582-6735. Since they are close on weekend I suggest that you call early Monday.
Uh, Abiel, you may have to retract that. I called the number posted and they would not offer a free upgrade for <30 day purchase of X3. They will let you buy it for $50. Kind of sneaky to not pre-announce that a new version was coming out, I would have waited another 2 weeks for X4.
Just to update .... I went ahead and ordered the X4 at the $50 price but was allowed to use the BONUSBUCKS20 coupon code that was posted on this forum, for a net of $30.
Not as good as free, but took some of the sting out. I'm getting the box shipped to me, I will play with the trial in the meantime. The X4 does seem to be a little more stable on my system than X3, so i hope this is worth it.
might have found an odd glitch... while editing a 6 min project I noticed that the ability to set the in and out points while trimming some clips in the preview window went away (ie "grayed out" and not selectable). I am still able to trim the clip by dragging on either side. Am in the project now and this option is affecting the entire project, not just a single clip. Can anyone else comment on this?
update* closed VS X4 and reopened it and reloaded the same project, now I can trim any clip from within the preview window.... problem went away. Not sure why it did this but if it repeats I guess I will have to struggle through the nightmare of informing Corel who I expect, based on past experience, to do nothing.

VS3 worked great for me, as it let me edit H.264 files directly much quicker than X2
But the H.264 encoding output option never worked properly, it was very poor quality to say the least.
For the last year I've had to output my HD projects to MPEG2 and then encode to H.264 using Handbrake.
Just downloaded VS4, so am hoping to get improved performance and decent output option that work.
Ive just noticed X4 has come out. Im an X2 user and never bought X3 because of all the scary things written on this forum on peoples genuine bad experiences. Now Im wondering the same with X4. The only thing that might be a reason for buying is quicker rendering taking advantage of the latest intel CPUs. But if it means 32 mins instead of 34 mins then its not a big issue. Other than that I am genuinely concerned that any new version might just blue screen or error after 2 hours of rendering etc. Ill have to wait and see what people say about X4. Its all about "a bird in the hand"...my X2 works perfectly - never had a problem.

And where did you get that idea?
I'm not sure if he's basing it on the sunrise or sunset times, where the amount of daylight is increasing as we near the equinox, or if a larger percentage of the population favor the color blue. I think I recall something I read or dreamed about, where Corel is actually planning on a depreciating time table. The next version should blue screen at 2 hrs, then followed by 15 minute shorter period per version thereafter...
Two points:
1) I started using the Video Studio when I accepted a 'Deal' from CorelDRAW three or four months ago. I was able to create files that I liked, but I could never get the program to output/encode correctly. I tried getting help from Corel without success. I gave up, thinking that maybe the problem was my inexperience which may not have been the case; another program worked just fine for me. I just downloaded X4 because the Corel program does some things the other programs doesn't, and I like Corel's workflow style. Hopefully, this version will work for me.
2) The 'Beginner's Videos' in the help window are, for me, frustrating. The background music interferes with the videos' message. ...at some key moments, you get that "Come own, come own"... and ironically, I thnk it's loudest in the "audio" clip! It seems that many of you here aren't relying on these videos, but do you folks find that background music distracting? ...and isn't it too loud?

From the many bad experiences that people had with X3. It gives the impression that Corel arent interested in proper testing. Software companies that create an impression need to work very hard to erase that impression. Just follow the X4 threads on this forum..are people having positive experiences?
