Newbie: Image capture ratio different from video.

Post by jizlobber »

Hi all. I'm just getting the hang of Videostudio. I'm editing video wherein I take a still capture of a frame, layover some text, then continue with the video (basic freeze-frame for the text). However, when previewed the aspect ratio changes (becomes more widescreen, if that makes sense) whenever it switches to the still. What gives? Am I doing it wrong? Will this render out and not show up?

Thanks.

How do you mean? The resolution on my PC or the resolution of the Video? I don't really know how to check the res of the video. I'm using DV with NTSC. Is there something more you need?

Thanks,
Ben..

Ugh...nevermind. There's actually an option in the drop down list to "keep aspect ratio" or set it to "same as project".

Thanks anyway.

Hi,

That is 720x480 (pixels)..

If you images are as large or larger, you should be good.

BTW, with the clip selected in the time line, you can go to the Options Window, Attributes, Distort, and right clip the clip the monitor window and *Keep Aspect Ratio* and size, and so on.
