The current advice is to uninstall Microsoft Installer 3.1, to eliminate the crashing of Ver. 9.
On May 26 and 28, I tried to download 3.1. I received an error message saying 'Updates were unable to be successfully installed'.
I then checked the download history, and it showed the two failures on the 26th and the 28th. But several entries down, it showed a successful installation of 3.1 on April 12.
On the same day, April 12, it shows three other security installations.
I then went to Add/Remove programs to see if I could uninstall 3.1. Wow, it was not even listed.
I checked to see if the file was hidden, but it indicated that no files were hidden.
It appears that somehow, the file was installed approximately one month before it was broadcasted. Unfortunately, I can't find it.
Does anyone have a clue?
