Motion path / Move path in 3d space / perspective camera as I described in http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42051
If it can't be included on the next VSP release, then maybe land a deal with a plugin-maker that can do this.

It willl very helpful if the opacity level of a video clip can be edited in any point of the timeline manually.

It would be great if VSX5 had screen recording capabilities. Also, more tools for video masking are a must.

1. a better audio edtior for the voice & music tracks

2.ability to keyframe the "enter" & "exit" of the overlay tracks. Or why not add keyframing feature to the jog slider?

3. Sophisticated masking feature/selction tool where one can mask a frame inside VSPX and then keyframe it.

I second that. There doesn't appear to be any editor on the low end market for editing 3d video.

I'd also like to see a 64 bit version.

Black Lab wrote:You can. On the same track, click on the first clip, press and hold the Shift key while you click on the last clip. Repeat for other tracks. They are now grouped and can be moved along the timeline.
Thats right, but only a temporary usable effect. One wrong click and you start again.

The right and correct solution was in Mediastudio already since about ten years.
There you could group files on tracks again and again - and you could catch them with the shift/mouse action, right click on group and all was done.

My wishes for an X5:

1. Better memory management and display of the memory status:
On my actual project (about 350 pictures with pan and zoom, MPEG2-video [ex-Super8 film], about 23 smartsounds, titles and some additional "noises") with about 90 minutes on the time line shows me that problem, because i couldn't render it into MPEG2-PAL 720x576 (but i want it in AVCHD 1080i, too).
Either i got the known "unknown error" with the *.DMP file or the "out of memory" message and VS X4 quits working.
I found a workaround, but that destroyed the editibility of the project (in MSP7 i had more complex 4 hour projects on the timeline, which runs without any problem with the less powerful hardware as available around year 2000 to 2005)

2. Better communication with the user:
It is not helpful to get a popup "wrong parameter" in the preferences menue, but no information what parameter is wrong. There are lots of other situations where VX4 has the same illness. See #1.

3. Audiofilters and management:
Justifying the audio level is solved very poor and bad. Needed filters are only accessable after highlighting the sound clip and not selectable alike the video filters.
In addition each Smartsoundtrack delivers another level - and the leveling in the smartsound menue don't have an effect on the selected soundtrack.

4. Less bugs ;-)

Authoring

Post by immerjan »

I know it sounds a bit funny, but I am now waiting for years for VideoStudio to come up with two authoring features: Multiple audio tracks (for language selection or comments etc.) and subtitles which can be switched on or off.
Reasons:
For the audio I would like to have the "normal" version with more music and stuff, and the "commented" version with some information on when and how shots were taken.
The subtitles I would simply use for my mum, who is hearing-impaired. I mean, all of us who can hear normally don't really want subtitles, unless something is in a foreign language, but those who have to rely on their vision, subtitles are a must.

I have a simple one: As the timeline scrolls to the right, snap the cursor further to the left when it gets to the right edge of the timeline.

Right now (using VS4), when the cursor gets to the right edge of the timeline, it snaps back to the middle of the timeline window. That means that I'm almost always working from the center of the window to the right edge, leaving half the window unused. I'd like to make better use of that window real estate by having the cursor snap to 1/3 or even 1/4 of the way to the left edge.

Or can it do that and I just don't know how to set it?

I find the keyframe operation in VS3/VS4 to be illogical, but maybe that's just me. The only way I have successfully done keyframes was when I studied the exact technique I wanted to use and followed it step-by-step. If I try to figure it out myself, I get nowhere.

64 BIT.

64 bit 64 bit, 64bit. 64 64 bit bit, 64 bit.

And then there's always 64 bit.

Did I mention 64 bit?

64 bit.

Adding a command line renderer, i.e. open command line and run "videostudiorender.exe --output-type DVD --output-file "C:/Output/VideoFile.iso" --input-file "C:/Users/Editor/Documents/My Projects/VideoFile.VSP"
The basic purpose of this would be to let me make a bunch of VSP files during the day, and render them all overnight. (I know it would need a lot more options than I actually put, such as including/not including a menu, normalizing audio, etc)

Maybe an option to use more memory for speed (this goes along with 64 bit)

It's probably been said before, many times, many ways, but I would like the position, size, and attributes of overlay clips to be variable using keyframes aned using an interface like the pan and zoom one. I know we have an FX for that - picture in picture - but then, we also have a pan and zoom FX. I'm not asking for all the bells and whistles the PinP FX has, just some basic placement, size, and transparency variables over time. That would be a nice addition.

My other main need is the ability to build menus from scratch. I could do this with Pinnacle and it was a simple, easy experience. Now we have a rather confusing interface, have to modify existing menus with bits and pieces on them whose purpose I don't entirely understand. Yes, the existing (few) HD menus can do wonderful things. But I'm a simple guy and just want to create a simple menu. My workaround now is build my list of 'favorites' and focus on using those.

In other respects, apart from a few bugs, I've found VS X4 to be fun to use and very solid.

AKA MOTION PATH. This is one the last remaining requests that I and several others started making way back when Corel first acquired Ulead. In fact I think it even goes back to Ulead. It is something that I still have a hard time understanding why Corel continues to back away from this. Every single one of their competitors have this ability, and have had for some time. While beta-testing VS X4 I again threw this in front of them. I guess it's similar to someone repeatedly slamming their head against a brick wall, and then asking why does my head hurt.. They just are not getting it..

Since I posted the above, emphasizing the desire for motion path, I'll also add the need to fix the transitions in overlay tracks. When you apply a transition to clips in overlay tracks, it should not affect the entire timeline, ie; all clips under it, including the main video track. The transition in the overlay track, should affect those 2 clips only. Again, all of the other NLEs in the same category as VS, behave properly.

Capability to export timecode to subtitle

For most home video users, they want to have the option to display the timecode on screen. So they can tell when was it when the baby took the first step, etc.

It would be even better to have the capability to display/hide the timecode.

A perfect solution is to export the timecode from timeline to subtitles. So you can show/hide it at will.

So far, the only thing I found was Sony Vegas Pro with SVDTS plugin. This plugin allows users export timecode from Vegas Pro timeline to subtitle. You also have different options on the time format (like mm-dd-yy or dd-mm-yy. Display up to minutes, or seconds, etc.).

It would be nice if VS had this kind of feature built-in (or plug-in). I am definitely willing to pay extra for this feature.
