Has nothing to do with being stubborn or prideful. I have no problem with how it works now, so I don't see the need to change it. That's my opinion.

I give up, you win. Leave the product with innumerable funky little quirks that make no sense. As long as we all know they're there, hey what's a few extra mouse clicks? Well if nothing else I hope Corel reads this exchange and is somehow able to "get it". Good grief!

My wish is for File Properties of Clip shown next to it in the Preview window in the Player Panel
Aid in editing from written notes.
I use Excel to assist in editing, showing relative timing information of two or more videos that have scenes to be cut and interleaved.
A bit like merging an old fashioned storyboard with clapperboard info. The Excel file shows the cut and transition before applying it to the video.
As it is now, I often right-click the mouse over a video clip in the Timeline Panel, to obtain the File Properties. A bit time consuming if done often!
I have recently upgraded to VS Pro X4, but this wish applies to all versions that I have used.

Add More Audio Filters (high-pass)

I was quite surprised to find that VS X4 had some nice and sophisticated filters (e.g. the hum notch filter) but no basic high pass/low pass filters. In particular, I wanted to minimize the wind roar from the internal mic on my Panasonic Lumix ZS-6. A wind cut filter is built into the ZS-7 model but not mine. I know that a strong low-cut (high pass) filter will damage audio quality, but that is a small price for salvaging something useable from the outdoor wind.

VS has never been a strong audio editor (it is, of course, a video editing app). If you really want to try using VS for this you can check out the audio filters that are available in the Free Stuff thread. Most veterans on this board do not soley rely on VS for their editing needs, and use many third party apps in conjunction with VS. Audacity is another one of those freebies that many of us use for audio editing.

suggestions . . .
1. provide options for the colour template of the UI. In particular, if the geeks still want black provide several preference options for lighter colour templates eg the VS11 variety .
2. provide an audio wind filter or several of them.

I've just spent 200 hours with X4 and found what I need most is:

1) Better integration of the chapters in X4 so that when you add, delete or change the duration of pictures that the chapters automatically keep their location.
1.1) I need to be able to right click on the time line header and not only be able to add the chapter mark but title as well with this immediately being
available when I go to create a disk.

2) When working with a series of tracks I need to be able to highlight a bunch of objects and make them a group that can be moved as a unit much like what you can do in Visio.

Just these two functions would have saved me so many hours If they were available and would make the X5 rev so much easier to use.
Thx

A very simple question...Why doesn't X4 have a minor size reduction button like windows so that I can drag Studio from my leftside screen to my righside ???
This causes me so much grief. Every time I use X2, X3 or X4 studio I have to go into my dual card NVIDIA 8200 GS setup and switch my #1 and #2 monitors so that I can get studio on my 23" #2 monitor.
This is so ridiculous and aggravating

Hi,
for the new version of VideoStudio x5, I ask that you enable a feature button in the timeline to indicate the point of reference chapters.
As with Edius, where you simply select the button "v" to indicate a chapter.

Thanks

The following is from X2 but I believe is still very similar in X4:

Adding cues and chapters
Adding cues and chapters helps you to navigate through your project once you have recorded them onto a disc.

To add project cues:
1 Click the Chapter/Cue Menu.
2 Select Cue Point.
3 Drag the cursor to the part of the project you want to add cues and click the bar below the Timeline ruler. Notice that a blue arrow icon was added.
Another step of adding cue points is to drag the Timeline slider to the desired cue point position in your project. Click the Add/Remove Cue Point.
4 Repeat Step 3 to add more cue points.

Tip: You can also use the Cue Point Manager when adding cue points. Select Add and specify the timecode and name of cue for easy identification. Click OK and then Close.

To add chapters:
1 Make sure that the Chapter Point is selected in the Chapter/Cue Menu.
2 Drag the cursor to the part of the project you want to assign as chapters and click the bar below the Timeline ruler. Notice that, below your Timeline ruler, yellow chapter points are set as markers in your movie.
You can also drag the Timeline slider to the desired chapter point position in your project. Click the Add/Remove Chapter Point.
3 To edit a chapter, click on a chapter point you want to edit and drag to a new position.
4 To rename, double click a chapter point and then enter a new chapter name. Click OK.

Note: To remove chapters and cues, simply drag the markers outside the Timeline ruler and then drop. Or you can also drag the Timeline ruler to the chapter or cue point you want to remove and then click Add/Remove Chapter Point or Add/Remove Cue Point.

You can. On the same track, click on the first clip, press and hold the Shift key while you click on the last clip. Repeat for other tracks. They are now grouped and can be moved along the timeline.

Update you tube interface

Post by metmot »

I like to use the automatic you tube up loader but........it's sadly outdated already. I can upload a one hour video on you tube on my account if I so desire. VS will trim it to 15 minutes when creating. Of course I can render an MPEG 4 file with the same properties and upload it but the interface is kind of cool when it's not behind the times. Corel should consider a patch for VS4 as things change in the world of the web to keep it up to date. Not only length of upload but also other features like the options for privacy which now include "unlisted" on you tube. Are you listening Corel? I just bought this thing (VS4) how about bringing my brand new product up to date with a patch to match you tube's progress I don't want to buy VS5 just to have the exact thing happen again and again as it has since you added this feature back in VSx2. It always seems to be one step behind the sites it's uploading to's features. I have allowed your product to have free speech back to the mother ship against my better judgment so how about giving me something back?

right now I wish to
get some serious h.264 encoder, current one is ridiculously limited and low quality
smart proxy limitations are also horrible, have to use 3rd party codec all the time
have more multithreading
stop autohiding the clips options panel, it is driving me crazy
