I can change the color of the preview pane but that's all I can find. If I could change the entire interface to grey that would be a feature

The ability to create Blu Ray Menus. Currently, you have to choose a certain menu template for you disc. A few of them can be edited but most are fixed. I would the ability to do more free form creation of the Blu Ray menu like you can in Sony DVD Architect Studio. Also, the ability to create your own DVD/Blu Ray Menu Template.

It just came to my mind that it would be extremely practical to have some type of text editor which you can use while reviewing a video, i.e. the possibility to store text within the project for further use (for example voice-overs or simple remarks like 'have to edit that clip again next week').
I can imagine a pane that replaces the clips archive when the tool is in use, so I can start the project and just write while the project is running. Right now it's kinda hard because VideoStudio only runs in full screen mode.

I agree with previous comments by immerjan, on using a text editor in-situ for reviewing.
My wish is to be able to write comments attached and shown next to each scene in the storyboard view.
Even just one or two words in a header. eg. have scenes labeled Reading1, Reading2, Class Library1, Word games1.
This would make it easier when you rearrange the scenes.
Currently when starting a new project, I watch the video (many times!!) , and write (and often rewrite!) on paper, comments relating to the storyboard, as I'm editing. I also use MS Excel for exact scene timing using different video imports, when splicing speech across different camera points of view.
It works, but is time consuming.

Concisely, my wish is for addition of attaching notes, to each scene, in the storyboard view, showing the header above the scene, and the body text hidden from view until selected (as floating text, or clicked text).

So as you cut and move the scenes around the label aids in rearranging. ie you don't get lost...
I hope this can be incorporated in the next version.

Elaborateted working with filter presets:
Being able to save editions made on filters by using the keyframes-dialogue, so that later on you have your presets available, also as saved files in the Application Data Folder!

Copying properties of a clip is already a good step ahead, but upon pasting former applied filter are removed. So this gap could be filled by using custom presets.

Some filters, like 'Sharpening' and 'color balance' do already have presets (but for the latter I always have to modify by keyframe dialogue, because non of the presets is usable for me).

And again: UI in a Windows-frame that can also be resized to a part of the desktop screen.

Re: VS X5: Wish List for Next Version - Switchable Subtitles

Post by MADDRELL_S_R »

 May I add my voice to the chorus of VSPX4 users clamouring for Corel to make (remote) switchable subtitles for DVDs available - maybe in the Disc Authoring Wizard (Share, Create Disc, DVD). I am using VSPX4 to produce a DVD record of a most excellent bus tour holiday to Cape York and I would love to use switchable subtitles to identify key places & people. However, I would also like to be able to switch these subtitles on/off by using the DVD player's remote control as they could become annoying on repeated viewings.

Color correction like "Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11." You can select an area and modify the color there-much like Photostudio for stills.

More advanced color correction, and more data bit rate conversion selection available.

My camcorder supports up to 36mbps/ 60 fps.

Dear Sir,

I will send you my opinion for desirable resources for the future VSP X5 in a series of topics... one for each reply... to be easy to understand.

The principal feature I think be implemented is... PRESERVING TEMPLATES.
This saves our efforts an time in developing templates for one version... and more... permit us to continue in use of our preferable templates.
It's a lot frustrating be impossible to use those favorites tempaltes... when we upgrade a version of VSP.
We always think of a new version... as a TRUE UPGRADE... preserving the features we had before

I mean by it... a command that make possible... TO IMPORT TEMPLATES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF PREVIOUS VSP.

As examples of what I said above... say...

1) In the VSP X3 - INSTANT PROJECTS... were possible to import VSP X2 Templates... but in the VSXP X4... this command was dropped.

2) The Templates of the categories... FUN and LEGACY of the... DVD Factory Pro 2010... were also dropped.

For The VSP X4... we had a lot of templates... natives ones and other got form the Photovideolife site... I wish be possible to import all them in
the new X5 version... saving our times and efforts.

Thanks.

Valmir

For the main video track and overlay tracks, add a fade line, similar to volume control line for sound, so that we can increase or decrease brightness in desired areas of the clip.

Another vote for a 64 bit program. 64 bit computers are becoming the norm and Corel really should realize this and keep up. Just my 2 cents.

I would also like to see more sample frames and flash animation I could inculde in the videos. Also more title effects would be good.
How about making a link to Motion Studio in the FX Menu or Titles Menu.

Don't mess around too much with the interface as I think it works.

An XML video project file. That way the work we do lives on in future versions without having to necessarily support all features of the past (this would assume that they remove something or change it beyond recognition :( ) . Just being able to load the video files and cuts of older version would be a huge improvement. I know they already support loading of at least the last 3 versions, but I still have MSP 7, 8, and VS 9 , 10 , 11 files hanging around.

and if there is such a beast, OVE (Open Video Editor) file format support (import and export)

PS: Glad to see the forums live on, even if some of the products do not (or they go to sleep for a while  )

Just to correct an apparent misapprehension on your part, later versions of VS can open VSP project files made in earlier versions. But not vice versa. Earlier versions cannot open later VSPs unless they are within the two version limit and have been saved in earlier VSP format e.g. an X2 VSP can be opened in X3 and X4; but an X4 VSP cannot be opened in X2 unless it has been in saved within X4 in X2 format. X4 can save in X3 and X2 format; X3 can save in X2 and VS 11 format; X2 can save in VS 11 and VS10 format; and so on...
