Installation Problems - Free Trial (X3 - X4)

Post by Crowley »

I've used Video Studio Pro X3 since it came out, but I recently has to uninstall it form my system. Yet, when I tried to reinstall it the process failed halfway through.

I downloaded the setup for the free trial and it downloaded without a problem. I opened it and it started going through, not a problem. I got to the point where it brought up the actual Corel Video Studio Pro X3 section: problem. The window was brought up on my computer, but it came up empty. It gave me no 'Next' option and only gave me a 'Cancel' option with a blank set up window.

I found X4 and attempted to install that, same problem.

Going back I tried X2, it installed but I uninstall it because I was never a fan of that one.

Does anyone know what I should do? Is it my download setup? Is it something my computer is lacking?

Can't tell if it's something your computer is lacking as you haven't filled in much of your specs.
Have you got the latest graphics card drivers?
And DirectX update?

Hello,

If I understand when the problem is happening, it sounds like you may be seeing a blank, black rectangular window right around when you would expect to see the licensing agreement?

We have seen a few times where certain Internet Explorer settings may be causing it. However, rather than resetting IE or trying to find just the right setting or where the setting is, you may find that creating a new administrator user profile just for the purposes of installing will actually work. This new user would only be to install, but does not actually need to be kept to use the program.

Regards

Wow, unprecedented - 3 Corel reps on the forum on the same day!

Regarding what Mark is referring to, please see this similar post (regarding X3).

I did as Mark suggested, and it worked like a charm. <3

I've had every VideoStudio product with no problems. Bought and installed X4 and it said the file was corrupted. I uninstalled it and then attempted to install the trial version with intentions of using the key. When I try to open the program I get a message that says X4 has stopped working. I've been on hold for 20 minutes but I think I'm going to give up on tech support via phone. Anyone got any ideas?

Hello silverkatt,

You may want to disable your anti-virus and firewall when downloading the profile and when you download the file, I suggest that you save it and not click on the RUN button.
