Hi All,
My first time here as I'm desperate for help (isn't everyone?)
A couple of years ago I bought VS 11.5 and had absolutely no problems with it.
Two weekends ago, my computer (Windows XP pro) blew up - eeek!!! (No connection I hope).
I have now installed it (VS 11.5) again on my new computer, which runs Windows 7.
When I double click the icon to load it, the following warning box appears:
Cannot initialize the application.
The screen resolution is too small to play the video.
The screen resolution must be set to at least 1024 x 768.
Followed by an "OK" box, which if clicked, gets rid of it.
Clciking START, CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY, ADJUST RESOLUTION, it tells me that the resolution is 1280 x 960, both of which are greater than the minimum advised.
So, now I'm stuck , particularly as I'm not particularly expert at anything computer orientated.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Re: Compatability with Windows 7
Hello EricTheRed,
VideoStudio 11.5 is not compatible with Windows 7, that can be the reason why you cannot experiencing this issue on Windows 7.
You can visit http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 4516325170, to know which version of the Corel Software is compatible with Windows 7.
There is a workaround for you to make old program works on Windows 7, however we cannot assure you this is a 100% fool proof. You can use the Windows 7 Program Compatibility and the Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC, which are both from Microsoft.
You can follow the steps for Windows 7 Program Compatibility from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... of-Windows
You can download and install the Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx.
Since we just release the VS X4, why not try the latest version. You can download it at http://www.corel.com/trials.

Re: Compatability with Windows 7
Hi Abiel,
Thanks for that. I did find this reply on another part of this board, so I was already in the process of enabling your suggestions.
At this very moment, Windows XP mode is being downloaded to my Windows 7 computer.
I will let you know how things go.
A small point, although important to me, is that when I purchased VS 11.5, it was a struggle to find the money, but I wanted so desperately to have an editor that would compile DVDs of my newly born daughter. It was an amazing success.
Now, I am potentially facing a purchase of a new version, whilst my income is below my outgoings every month for the last 3 years.
Why cannot Corel produce a work around for earlier versions for those of us who struggle to purchase software in the first place?
It would keep us loyal to the brand, rather than feel that we have been let down.
Anyway, let's wait and see how things go.
Thanks for your help.
Steve

Re: Compatability with Windows 7
i HAVE NOW MANAGED TO DOWNLOAD WINDOWS XP MODE AND VIRTUAL PC.
Oops - that's better.
Clicking START, ALL PROGRAMS, WINDOWS VIRTUAL PC, and then WINDOWS XP MODE, I get an information box that says:
"Windows XP mode cannot be set up
Windows Xp mode is not available on this edition of Windows. "
What on earth is going on?
This is exactly what the Windows site says:
"Windows 7 has several built-in tools to help with program compatibility and Windows XP programs should be installed directly on Windows 7. Windows XP Mode runs many older Windows XP productivity programs and that are not natively compatible with Windows 7, thus helping realize cost savings and reduce possible operational downtime by extending the life of existing software. Visit the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to find software that works with Windows 7."
I've done it, and it still doesn't work.
Eeeek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Compatability with Windows 7
Not exactly..... MS in it's infinite wisdom, and continued greed for mega-bucks,
, only makes the Compatibility mode available in Win7 Professional or Win7 Ultimate. I see you have Win7 Home Premium, so you can't run Compatibility Mode...

EricTheRed,
Please don't take this as being nit-picky (though it probably is), but can you just stick with plain black text? There's no need for bolded blue. My eyes might be going, but I can still read the black text.
