Making audio inaudible

Making audio inaudible
I am new to VideoStudio Pro X3. I have a video of one person being interviewed by another, and I want to make inaudible some of the words - usually it's just one or two words at a time, whilst the video continues. Rather than have these words covered with a "beep" my preference would be for "silence". At the moment my best guess would be to multitrim the video, and for the clip that contains only the offending word, split the audio, and then delete the audio for that clip. This sounds very time-consuming and unsatisfactory. Does anyone have other ideas?

Re: Making audio inaudible
Welcome to the forums,
You could use the Rubber-band method of adjusting the volume for that specific portion of the audio track. This could be done on-the-fly too.
1. Open the Sound Mixer by clicking on the musical note icon.
2. Note which track the audio is in that you want to adjust, making sure it is not muted in the Sound Mixer.
3. Prior to where you want to remove/change the audio, start playing. I generally will just press the spacebar on my keyboard.
4. Just prior to this, drag the volume slide in the Sound Mixer all the way down. Notice that a node is applied to the volume line (band) in the clip, and the band is lowered.
5. After this section has passed, drag the volume slider back up.
You can then go back an fine tune this, by dragging the nodes left/right, up/down, for more precise editing. I just tried this on a clip that was in the Main Video track. I did not split the audio. It took me about 2 mins, including the fine tuning to make the adjustments..
