VS7 - No options panel on EDIT page

Post by k6eid »

I have used VS7 before (last time about a year ago) and did not have this problem.

I want to clip and delete some video from my video timeline file of the raw MPEG file. When I go to the EDIT page, the only thing in the options panel is the start and end times. None of the other stuff such as EXTRACT are there.

I can't seem to find anything that would allow me to turn on the full OPTION panel on this page.

Help anyone?

Thanks

Sorry if this is a bit basic - but you do know the clip has to be in the storyboard/timeline for all of the available functions to be displayed - they are not available if you just play the clip in the library.

Thanks. That solved that. Now I can mark the frames I want to delete but when I do that, the frames stay in the clip. I am probably missing something real obvious again!

I think you may be looking at "Clip" and not "Project."

Your project contains all your editing changes, which will be carried out when you finally are ready to "Share -- Create new video file." Then a new file will appear in the folder of your choice WITHOUT all the frames you deleted.

Thanks. I was looking at the clip.

I made several delete edits, then went to SHARE and CREATE VIDEO FILE. It rendered it. But when I pulled that file into the timeline, all the deleted segments are still there! Again, I must be doing something stupid.

I also tried the trim handle thing described on page 59 of the manual but I can't bring them in as they are at the start and stop extremes of the file. The right one does come in but the left one won't.

Is there an article available that describes in detail the procedure from deleting unwanted segments of the clip? If so, please point me to it.

Thanks

Have you tried the "Editing in the Timeline" procedure described on my website.

No I had not. Thank you for the website. I shall read it.
