MF7 - Continue to Next Clip is not working
MF7 - Continue to Next Clip is not working
I have been using MF6 for years but when I got a new computer with Windows 7, I decided to start fresh with MF7. Unfortunatly, I have run into a situation that I cannot resolve. Whenever I have the Continue to play to Next Clip selected under Clip Playback, the preview works as expected but the final DVD does not. Instead, whenever Next is clicked on the remote, the DVD goes back to the main menu. This worked great in MF6 but I cannot figure out why it is not working in MF7. I have installed both patches for MF7 and I even tried a different DVD writer. Is there a known problem with this or, if not, what could I be doing wrong? If I can't get this working I will just have to go back to MF6. Thanks for any help!

Re: MF7 - Continue to Next Clip is not working
Before I try to replicate this, I need to know a little more information.
1. I'm guessing that you are wanting to burn a DVD, not a hybrid AVCHD/Blu-Ray correct?
2. What menu are you using, SmartScene, Thumbnail or Text?
3. Are you using the Menu-In/Menu-Out motion menus?
4. Have you tried Creating DVD Folders, and does the Next/Previous work correctly when viewing on your PC?
5. Do you have another DVD player that you can and/or have tried playing the disc on? If so, does it respond the same way?
6. What type of DVD disc are you using? +RW, -RW, -R, +R

Thank you so much for the reply. I should also point out that this is 64-bit Windows 7.
>1. I'm guessing that you are wanting to burn a DVD, not a hybrid AVCHD/Blu-Ray correct?
Yes, I am attempting to burn a DVD.
>2. What menu are you using, SmartScene, Thumbnail or Text?
I am using a Thumbnail scene.
>3. Are you using the Menu-In/Menu-Out motion menus?
I have tried with them on and with them off. I am not using motion thumbnails.
>4. Have you tried Creating DVD Folders, and does the Next/Previous work correctly when viewing on your PC?
I use ISO files and, on my computer, the Next button does not send the movie back to the menu but it does not advance to the next clip either. But that is the case for all of my previous discs made in MF6. The MF6 discs do work as expected on stand alone DVD players. The preview in MF7 (before burning that disc or ISO) does work correctly.
>5. Do you have another DVD player that you can and/or have tried playing the disc on? If so, does it respond the same way?
I have tried 2 different players that were also different brands.
>6. What type of DVD disc are you using? +RW, -RW, -R, +R
I have tried +R and +RW with the same sesults.

Re: MF7 - Continue to Next Clip is not working
Sorry for the delay in replying to this. I finally managed enough time to test this. Sadly I can't replicate it. I've tried this on both my stand-alone DVD players, one being an el-cheapo, the other however is generally somewhat picky. It was able to select (next/previous) between titles (clips), without it going back to the menu. I used DVD-RW, and even tried a couple of different projects, having different numbers of titles.

Re: MF7 - Continue to Next Clip is not working
Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I spent most of my Saturday trying to track this down and I have come to the conclusion that this is a Windows 7 ULTIMATE problem.
First, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling MF7 with no change in the results. Then I installed Virtual Box and set up a fresh copy of my OS (WIn7 Ultimate x64), installed MF7, and did a test project with the same results. For my next step, I got a copy of Win7 Home Premium x64, installed on Virtual Box, and followed the same steps. This time, the resultant DVD did advance to the next clip correctly! Just to be on the safe side, I did the test over again on my virtual Win7 Ultimate and the next clip again did not work as before. These tests were all done with the same DVD+RW. I did not try Win7 Professional x64.
I have no idea why Ultimate will not work correctly. Do you think reporting this to Corel will do any good consdering they abandoned this product? I did some Googling and did not see any results related to my situation.

They're still selling it on the U.S. site anyway. So it wouldn't hurt to report this to them.

Re: MF7 - Continue to Next Clip is not working
Just an update for anyone that is interested: the Continue to Next Clip does not work in Windows 7 Professional, either. I have not taken the time to report to Corel yet becuase I'm trying to get a project out the door. At least now I know that the final DVD will work as long as I build it in Windows Home Premium.
