It is stated quite clearly on Corel's website that Video Studio Pro X3 is "Enhanced! NVIDIA® CUDA™ GPU acceleration and Intel® Core™ i7 CPU optimization "
Post on this forum seem to indicate a serious problem and that users with i7 processors have to change their Bios settings each time they use Video Studio and disable one of the great features of this CPU, i.e. Hyperthreading. Is this true or only under certain conditions ?

Re: Compatibility with Intel Core i7 CPU
Welcome to the forums.
Unfortunately, it seems to be true that many users with i7 have difficulties with certain operations using Video Studio, and that disabling hyperthreading seems to rectify this. It appears to occur mainly when the user is trying to render AVCHD video into a new file. However, it has also been reported by i7 owners when trying to render a hybrid AVCHD disc using Movie Factory 7 SE. Corel has been made aware of the problem, but I have no idea if or when they might provide a patch for it.

Re: Compatibility with Intel Core i7 CPU
My VS X3 works fine, even with AVCHD, without disabling hyperthreading... Al

Re: Compatibility with Intel Core i7 CPU
Thanks, Ken, for the welcome and reply. Quite discouraging, however, that Corel would not appear to be treating this as somewhat urgent in view of the claim on their website regarding i7 optimization and which now would appear to be erroneous or, heaven forbid, a lie!Ken Berry wrote:Welcome to the forums.![]()

i7-860 with hyperthreading enabled here, and VS X3 works fine. However, I don't use AVCHD.

Re: Compatibility with Intel Core i7 CPU
Hello janstan,
Not all computers are using the same setup, software and even the same Dell computer will not have the same installed software that is why any software may behave differently on different computers. About your question on how well or bad VS X3 run on Core i7 processors, I would suggest that you download the trial version and see for yourself.
You can download the trial at http://www.corel.com/trials
At least from there you will know the answer. If you have other question regarding the product, this forum is more than happy to answer any of your question.
