I am getting to the extremely frustrated stage with X3. After purchasing X2 with no issues and enjoying its benefits, I trialled X3 and then bought a licence for the dowloaded version.
I have it installed in my wifes laptop run by Vista as she is the photographer and creative artist in the family.
Since then I have had constant problems with the software. I have read over and over again the posts here and what I can find on google regarding the issues I'm having.
The main issue is the constant configuring and looking for the .msi file with the message "Error 1706 no valid source could be found for product Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3"
I have completely removed the programme twice using the removal tool and then manually removing everything in the registry. The only thing I couldn't remove is the Corel Folder in Programme files. Even changing the admin rights and checking all the boxes it still refuses to be deleted. When trying to install the patches after first re-installation it couldn't find the directory to install it to, hence the complete removal and re-installation. The patches installed after the most recent installation of x3 but then the configuration message has started to re-appear again !
I have tried to point the configuration tool in the direction of where I thought the .msi file would be, but there seems to be no trace of it anywhere.
I am reasonably computer literate, but any help here would be appreciated to save my sanity.

Welcome to the forums,
I think the file is one that is unpacked into a temp folder, and is deleted once the program is installed. To preserve these, this is what I do..

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 keeps configuring !!
Hi Ron
Thanks for the prompt reply. The dowload icon looks like a "CD" and doesn't extract to folders as far as I can make out. To pick up on what you suggest, should I completely remove all traces of x3 then re-install pausing around 90% or so and locate the Init.htm file then copy that file to another location before the installation quits.
I still have problems deleting the main corel folder as it won't allow me access even although I have administrator rights, or can I do a programme software removal and re-install without going near the registry.
Regards
Pete

Pete, just a thought on the stubborn Corel folder - is it by chance marked "read only"? You can check by right-clicking on the folder and selecting properties. If it is read only, just uncheck the box and see if you are able to delete it.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 keeps configuring !!
Hi Kathy
I have checked the attributes and the folder is read only. The good news at the moment is the "re-configuration" seems to have gone. I'm going to leave things as they are for the moment to see if it re-appears or if it has gone for good.
Cheers

Glad to hear things are working and I agree, I'd leave well enough alone unless you have more issues. If you do, you can just un-check the read only box and delete that file if you need to.
