MPEG file size drops from 9GB to 1GB after comm extraction

Hello, All. I'm trying to convert VHS football games to DVD using MF2se. I captured the source at 720x480 mpeg, VBR (7500 max) and the resulting file size was 9.5Gb (3hr 12min). I then used the Extract Video feature to mark and remove 50 minutes of commercials which left about 2hours and 20 minutes of video but the file size dropped to less than 1gb. During the conversion/burning process I get an error msg about excessive frame drops. I would have expected the file size to be around 5-6gb. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks.
