VS 9 with Sony HDR-FX1

Post by thschmitt »

I've used VS(7,8,9) to capture from a Sony DCR PAL Camcorder and it worked well all the time.

Now I bought the new Sony HDR-FX1 (High Definition Video) Camcorder.
I'm aware that VS does not capture HDV Format but I can enable an internal converter to send the HDV stream in DV Format to the I-Link outlet.

Unfortunately VS9 captures only a disorted Video from the camera and the Info of VS tells me that there is a NTSC camera installed. I'm shure that the Camera is PAL.

If I switch the Camera complete to DV Mode the capturing from VS9 workes fine.

But it should work with HDV when converting the I-Link outlet to DV.

Has anybody any expirience in using Sony HDR-FX1 with VS ?

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

VS9 doesn't support HDV.

Mike,

thanks for your reply.

I'm aware that VS doesn't support HDV.

But I can configure the Fire Wire outlet of the camera to convert HDV into DV Format. with this DV format VS should be able to capture.

Sorry, I read a sentence wrong.

My guess is that you'd lose device control - it isn't a DV device. You should be able to run the camera in DV mode, and capture all as a clip.

VS9 won't *see* the deck, so it will be a manual capture.

Hi Thomas,

One more thing. MSP7 with the HDV plugin will work with your camera very well.

You could use it to make HDV content, upload to the camera or output to SD.
